to be honest, I´m with the process west one, and I agree, the stocker was hotter than the pw-one ever will be, but the fins inside of the TMIC of the stocker are more accurate than the pw-one

honestly, dont waste your money buying a bigger tmic. I sure as hell did and I wish I just went front mount in the first place. I recently just did a fp td06 20g turbo upgrade and wanted to keep my tmic. My tuner said that the top mount is heatsoaking so much that he was only able to tune my car to about 320 whp at 19psi. He then said by upgrading to a front mount I could easily gain about 50 hp. I guess my point is if your going to stay with the stock turbo a bigger tmic is fine but once you go to a bigger turbo a front mount is a must.

See I just have a hard time believing this. Sure its going to heat soak, it was on a dyno right? after how many pulls? What was outside temp? what kind of airflow was routed to the radiator AND the intercooler? Unless this was a road tune with temps and airflow proper, I just find this hard to believe you can get that much power from fmic. TMIC with proper airflow vs FMIC with proper airflow can't be worth 50 hp, thats crazy-I say its more from the conditions during the tune.

Everyone has mixed feelings about the topmount and it makes it much harder to decide wether or not to purchase one...

DO IT!!!

I do have to say that after a decent ride in my car the larger TMIC is cool to touch. Mind you i have meth but that is injected post intercooler so it really does nothing to cool the intercooler itself. It does heat up when I sit in traffic as well as when I park the car, it does cool off once the car starts moving again.

I like mine...although I will be going FMIC when I go larger turbo.

I have so little money as a student and currently living in NYC. If I made the decision to go through with it and then regretted it I would be SOOOOO upset!

Hey guys. Anyone have an opinion on any of the Ebay TMIC's? Certain sellers have better products or are they all pretty much the same?

I am looking at this one:
AMK 02-07 SUBARU WRX STI TOP MOUNT INTERCOOLER UPGRADE - (eBay.ca item 260252408326 end time 24-Jun-08 05:15:00 EDT)

One of my customers has done testing with the TMIC that was bought from us. He has posted a Dyno Chart with commentary of what was tuned and what was not.

There is a little improvement midrange, I think I have some dyno charts somewhere around here. But having a larger core will definitely help.

This is with the CSS TMIC vs the stock STI one. Same timing, same fueling, the wastegate duty cycles were tweaked a bit to maintain boost. The car has not leaned out the fueling yet, but I expect it will.

turbo wrap + downpipe wrap + stock heat shield + aftermarket heatshield (using intercooler bolt) = $$$ saving results
