Default 360+ wheel lb-ft 320+ whp *STOCK* Turbo

Oh yeah. The beauty of a HUGE TMIC. TXS 4.5" TMIC took our previous 347 wlb-ft and 314 whp to:

Pics to come

A single best pass of 360.0 wlb-ft and 324.2 whp with individual bests of 365.5 lb-ft and 328.1 whp.

Alrighty then Scott....when did you say you were planning to make a trip to the Salt Lake City area? I know you've been dying to watch the Mormon Tabernacle Choir in person! ;-)

This was an EARLY '04. It was our "Performance STi" here until a customer insisted on buying it. I actually have dyno numbers and plots from stock to today.

Bone stock:
it dynoed 245 whp and 253 w-lb-ft

*DOUBLE CATTED* Random Tech TBE:
it made 265 whp and 283 wlb-ft

Injen CAI, Walboro 255 and Ecutek:
it made 304 whp and 328 wlb-ft

EBCS and extensive tweaking (and cooling the TMIC):
it made my previous best of 347 wlb-ft (amazing for an '04) and 314 whp

We added the TXS TMIC:
and got bests at 365.5 wlb-ft and 328 whp
with a "prettiest" run for 360.0 and 324.4
(it's hard to make them pretty on the dynapack)
that was at 18.8 psi peak, tapering to 16.1 psi at redline
with the afr's FLAT at 10.9 (it worked too well, and I ran out of time to play )

Would there have been any change in power if you used an fmic instead?

and with that, a fmic is better with a larger turbo...
and heatsoak is something you wouldn't want.

TMIC: inconsistent power

FMIC: Consistent power

Power upgrades from an aftermarket TMIC are just fools gold. I went that route, gained a few ponies, but heatsoaked worse. The worst thing I ever did to my car. It still sits on top of everything and takes moderate amounts of speed before the air even gets under the scoop. FMIC..the air is hitting it the second you are moving. The stock TMIC is just too darn good for what its doing to change IMHO. Just an opinion though if you aren't getting a FMIC.

So, a FMIC on a stock turbo would have +'s and -'s obviously. Is it recommended? or does it not really matter either way?

If somebody would design a FMIC that didn't have a retardedly thick core (yes, I'm talking about APS here), and that placed the endtanks on the top and bottom instead of the sides, I'd buy it.
Thats a good point, and nice diagram, thats a great way to show it.
