Stock injectors and 93 octane from down the street. Which now that you mention didn't seem to want to run as much timing as whatever gas the car came in with.

Really, total parts were Injen CAI, TXS (WRX) TMIC (I think they only have the one, and this one used the stock STi Y-pipe under it), Random Tech DUAL catted TBE, EBCS, Walboro, and Ecutek. The engine bay was HOT when we did it and we were hand spraying the TMIC with tap water.

This customer road races and this really would be a road race-able setup with a splash of good gas. 18.8 psi peak, tapering to 16.1, minimum timing was near 17 with 29 or so at the top...

This is a STRANGELY high car, but nothing unnatural was used to make these numbers. Like I said, the car ran better on the street than on the dyno.

this is waht i was wondering. i couldnt find an STi-specific i/c.

the cai is also interesting. perhaps it is a bigger player than i was thinking. (itis the type that snakes inside the fenderwell and drops down to a k/n pod filter?)

thnx

Scott,
What was the duty cycle on the stock injectors at max hp? Were they close to 100%?

95.96% is the highest that I am finding. That's with the DeltaDash logger, which has been shown to add fuel pretty well up to 118-120%...

It appears that they have "100%" set to 80% of static (true 100% - wide open)...

I'd love to see the boost curve.

Thought I had posted that:

dang, having issues with the program.

the 365.5 was running 19.55 psi at 3400 and about 16.6 at 6800.

The 360.0 had 18.76 psi at 3400 and 16.1 psi at 6800. Fairly smooth between them on the dyno, PERFRCTLY smooth on the street.

The customer called me this morning to say that he also gained almost 40 miles per tank. This was only one tank, not an average, but he was thrilled.

Is it normal for the torque to drop that hard towards the end of the powerband?

I'll be the first to admit I'm no expert when it comes to tuning

Scott,
I know its not most tuners priorities to maximize fuel economy, but it certainly can't hurt. I'm guessing (please correct me if I'm wrong) that at low manifold pressures you are most concerned about drivability.

Has anyone played around with aggressively leaning the mixture and advancing the ignition at low manifold pressures typically seen while cruising at lets say 65 mph on level ground.

I realize that that adds more complexity when transitioning to less advance and richer mixtures associated with higher pressures, but it would seem that with the published A:F ratios that an STi has stock, there would be lots of room for improvement in fuel economy for those who spend most of their time driving to work while pulling 10 in-hg of vacume.

Don
p.s. I have no practical experience with the STi but it seems we are way richer than we need to be at low MAP.

Remember that the torque is shown ONLY on the left axis, the right axis is whp, which is different. It does drop to near 220, which is near 40 higher than stock. This is also the STOCK turbo, so it is WAY out of breath at 7k and 16 psi... (it was still running near 30 degrees of timing though, so it was happy.)

thats wat i do 4 my daily grind =) i design and manufacture them
