Don't post much here but since there has been minor debates over the Typhoons gains without a lot of dyno plots to support it, at least as far as I've seen, I thought I'd share the runs K&N ran on their dyno using my '05. They were doing a test fit so that they can give the "blessing" on fitment for '05 STI's. Also, they were doing some initial R&D concerning a velocity stack at the inlet to the intake. I have a COBB turboback exhaust (catted) and am stock besides this. It still appears to be a 12WHP gain. BTW- They are a great bunch of guys over there. Enjoy........

wow, a 12 whp gain AFTER a turboback exhaust? that's impressive, for $200 I will definitely consider getting one. I wonder if one would see the same kind of gain after turboback and stage 2 EM.

Interesting how it leaned out more than stock after 3500 rpm...

Ha, I noticed that too. How many threads and experts have stated that in no way could it change AFR?? I'm not too worried about it, as long as it's not enough to fail my piston....

Also note they did 2nd gear pulls...I had heard that 5th gear was best.

I don't think it's too realistic to think that the A/F ratio would stay identical, especially, immediately following the install. I don't believe that they reset the ECU but am not sure. Either way it did not have much time to learn and adapt to an increase in air flow. I'd like to have them do it again say next week and see if it's the same. Don't think that will happen though. Also, not sure why they pulled in second gear. I thought third would work best on the STI but since it was a before and after comparison I'm sure it didn't matter to them.

Good point. I was thinking AFR could stay the same, but that would be after a bit of learning I guess. I'd love to see another run after a week or so...

I don't think it's that bad as far as the AFR. Just think, you'll be getting better gas mileage now in town!

A 5speed STi? Why did they do the pull in second?
