Hi...

I would like to hear from people that have actually used the VF22 on their STi... not speculations! not guesses or websites... etc etc!
Please tell me how it was, number wise and drive wise! more concern on the drivability, and times!!
Also, ported and non-ported!

And Yes.. I know all about the story, that it's not a whole lot bigger then stocker and all that! that's why I'm only asking for 1st hand experiences!
To me it seems like a good deal! $600 for the new turbo, and I can sell the VF39 for 350-300....

thanks so much for your input!

Hi,

I had about 4500 miles on my car when i had XX tuning in Hartford, CT put a VF22 on my 04 STI. I like the 22 over the 39. I didn't port it and I have not noticed any boost creep, yet. As of now I added a Turbo XS TBE w/cat and magnaflow silencer, GT Spec header w/ uppipe, perrin short ram intake, Turbo XS type-H BOV, PE 850cc injectors, 255LPH fuel pump and UTECH piggy-back. I have not changed the intercooler yet. The results 289.7 WHP and 362.2 WTQ. The 22 starts to pull almost instantly lag is not a problem with the 2.5L. The powerband is pretty linear and the car will actually catch sec. gear with the DCCD set on auto. If a fun street car is your goal, the 22 may be for you, but don't expect to make more than 325WHP. The 22 is good but it is way too small to make the big numbers. I'll try to attach my dyno sheet so you can see it. I plan on going with an SR55 and a Hyperflow TMIC with Cryo2 injection to keep things cool.

Good luck,
Defiantspaz

Good friend of mine had one on his 04. Boosting around 22psi. He had it dynod, along with txs dp, mid, race pipe, 3" rfl, headers, fp and 850cc injectors, utec. With a boost leak (intercooler hose wasnot fully attached) he put down 350ftlbs between 3000&5000 rpm. It was basically flat at that point. Above 5000, vf39 pulls better. But the torque was UNBELIEVABLE! But the increased boost basically caused him to start consumng oil, heavily. He now has an 05. I loved it! Especially for autox or street driving. But like I said, it ran out of steam above 5000rpm. If you are looking for torque though, it was amazing.
