hey, i heard that you could cut the stock blowout valve so that you could get some extra horsepower. is that true, and if it is how could you do it?

the only mod that i know of for the stock recirculating valve is to crush the cap to increase the spring force. This is not necessary until well over 20psi and on a stock car with stock tuning would do no good, so you were partly correct, but not in a really useful way.

Default Engine internals.

Do some research. The stock blow off valve is what the STi requires. If you replace it you will not gain any power, and you might even end up damaging your car over time. There have been many dicussions on BOVs on this forum.

there is no way a bov can give you more power. also our cars dont have a bov, they have a bypass valve, which serves a similar but slightly different purpose. the 2 arent exactly interchangeable (although people switch them anyway)

Yes, you will need a heavy-duty exactor knife, and then proceed to cut the red doo-hicky going under your IC, and trim back black thingamajig that exits your "blowout" valve...

...I heard its guranteed 20 HP, cause you get no more blowout!
