| Iron Fisted | Firstly, I really did do a search. I am sorta embarrassed asking this question, but... Is there any benefit to adding a high pressure radiator cap to an otherwise stock cooling system that may be upgraded in the future? Do they cause any problems, etc? Thanks. | Junior STI Driver | It just raises the release pressure in the cooling system. Meaning a couple things. You can get the coolant hotter and it wont get pushed open as easily say at high RPM's. Nothing wrong with upgrading it now or later. No big deal either way but it is worth the money to me. Better bang with higher difficulty is a thermostat though. Thermostat + Radiator + cap = awesome cooling performance. I couldn't even get the temp in my car to raise at the track with that same setup. |

If your car isn't overheating, it's not necessary. It's also possible for the additional pressure to crack the plastic end tanks on the stock radiator, although I'm not sure how likely that is. |

| Iron Fisted | At this point, I'm thinking of going with a 1.3 bar cap, 160* t-stat and a 50/50 mix coolant/water with one bottle of water wetter added in. So I take it that sounds like a good set-up? Also, regarding the endtanks breaking...I read that during my search. Anyone that has had that happen want to chime in?
