Here is the bottom line. You will most likely be getting tuned by a professional tuner. The best advice I can give you is to tell your tuner what kind of performance you want and how far you want to push the tune. Ask your tuner what he would do. | |

IWSTI Addict since: Jan 2005 Trader Rating: (0) | These are not boosted hondas or old 80s/90s econoboxes with factory snails attached. These are highly tuned engines that can be finicky about what you do to them. Work WITH the engine, and you get great payoffs. Work AGAINST it and it'll stat coughing up pieces of pistons. So don't just slap on a MBC or EBC and cank the boost. And don't take it to some shop that's only ever worked on a couple STIs. Find a shop that has lots of experience with STIs. They will make sure the car is turned right. If you aren't sure about your local shops, ask around and you'll probably get recomendations for your area. If you want to go faster quickly and easily, get a downpipe or turbo-back exhaust and buy a Cobb AccessPORT V2. Flash the appropriate Stage 2 map and go have plenty of reliable fun. This can be done in an afternoon in a garage. |

IWSTI Addict since: Jun 2007 Trader Rating: (2) | I'm running about 17.5-18psi now in the higher gears (stock turbo). I asked my tuner for a conservative tune though because I want something that can survive HPDE's. He said it may boost a little more in the winter when the air gets denser. Mods are: catless TBE aps 65mm 3 port boost solenoid walbro |
