i checked on my oil today and it was totally empty i couldnt believe it! last oil change was 2300 miles ago. wut do u think is going oN? i have a 04 sti

well i was driving to kragen to pik up oil and went home and checked the oil n there was nothing from wut the dipstick was telling me

well let it sit for a bit and let some of the oil drain back into the pan and out of the motor and then check the level. How many qts are you putting in? make sure you put in 5

if you didn't check your oil for the last 2,400 miles, you better hope there's something in the pan when you drain it.

And....you're not checking the oil level frequently enough to catch when it's down by half a quart or so.

Letting the oil level get low is likely to exacerbate whatever underlying condition you might have and make the oil loss even more rapid. (True if you're burning it; not true if you're leaking it.)

well last time i did a oil change was 2300 miles. u think my car get tak that much oil and before that i blew my rods on my car cuz my oil was low again and that was 3000 miles. so wut im tryin to say is that is sumthin leakin? wut can be the worst case scenerio

Well leaking oil should be pretty easy to identify, especially if you're talking about several quarts of it. Do you have oil puddles under the car (ever)?

Is the bottom of the car covered with an oily film and/or trails of oil that has leaked out.

In the absence of oil puddles, trails or film, it's probably safe to assume the car is burning the oil.

Although your car may have been repaired after the previous problems, it's possible the repairs were not done correctly or the actual underlying problem was never fixed.

k wut happen was about 3 months ago i was driving my car on the freeway n honestly i didnt check how much oil i had but i was goin to tak it to the shop n let them do it well i was smashing on the freeway redlining my car n everythin n everythin was fine until i exited i heard tis rattle come from my car n i was drving it was rattling n shakin n i knew i blew somethin n took it to the shop n he told me on i blew my rods or something so he had to rebuilt my block. he told me that happened because i had no oil n the crazy thing is that last oil change i had was 3000 miles ago. n he told me 04 sti eats oil easily n im tryin to avoid that but today found out my oil was low n my las oil change was 2300 miles ago so im wondering is something leakin??? or is it jus that 04 sti eat lot of oil thanks for ur reply

well there isnt no puddle or anythin probably jus a minor leak but jus wondering wut can be worst case scenario

I believe Subaru says that 1 quart of oil every 1,000 miles is "normal" oil usage. So if you're going 2,300 to 3,000 miles before checking your oil level, it's possible that you'll be two to three quarts low even if you're driving the car like a saint.

Add in some "blastin down the freeway" and your oil consumption could increase.

I think you need to check your oil level at least every week.

As far as worst case scenario:

1. Broken rings
2. Broken rods
3. Damaged bearings
4. Damaged block
5. Damaged pistons
6. Damaged heads

There could be a lot of worst case scenarios.

oh yea n also if u can help tis is lil off topic but everytime i downshift well only at low rpms like wen i downshift to 3rd gear or 2nd gear my car kinda shakes a bit like as if someone is just learning how to drive a stick tis neva happened before is tis a tranny issue?
