Default Possible problem with transmission! please help

Here is my problem.

The passed couple of days I have been noticing that sometimes when i am in 5th for example and at lets say 6000 rpm and i down shift to 4th and give it some gas.. my turbo gauge will show the boost kickin in and then eventually beep (which is normal for my defi guages as many of you know) but my rpm needle will delay then go from 3500rpm in 4th to 6000rpm with no torque[as if you were revvin in neutral]...like it just slides up there. then a bit of a pull will come after. I never had this problem. What could it be? any info or ideas would be very helpful.

thank you

Definately sounds like the clutch slipping, as when you downshift it isn't able to handle the power your putting through it and starts slipping (i.e. feels like your in neutral). Then it eventually grips and you'll start to have some power. Same thing happened to my friends WRX when he stepped on it until he upgraded his clutch.

I'd definately get that checked first, not sure what else could cause what you are describing.

try this....go about 40 mph....put it in 6th and hit the gas....if it doesnt go well or the motor revs up its bye bye clutch

*edit* this will only show the problem if its pretty bad already which from what your describing it is

If I understood correctly which I hope I'm wrong you are telling us that you are in 5th gear at 6000 rpm and did a down shift to 4th and give it gas? What is your red line 9,000 rpm?

No but really if it is the clutch you will notice it slipping when you are in a higher gear and go into WOT from lets say 3,000 rpm and the engine revs like it was on second gear or so.

Yeah previous owner roasted my clutch to death.. Bought her at 27k miles, got to 30k.. Oil change.. Plugged engine management in and flashed her for 93 octane and started to get major slip on launches (once the turbo spooled up she just flew to redline without transferring the power to the ground).

The true test was what bluedemon said. When you are in 6th gear, wide open throttle it from 2500rpm and then as you start to build boost by 3k she'll spin free. Mine would fly to redline once I hit 3000rpm and then the awful smell of roasted clutch.
