Default 07 Ringland issue questions????

The more and more I read, the more I am concerned..... I have 16000 miles on my 07 and I'm currently running a Stage 3 set up with a PE 1820F and ECUtek software tuned by DynoComp... My question is what kind of symptoms should I be looking for if I should have this nasty little problem??? Oil usage, knocking, total engine failure, or just a simple check engine light? At this point I'm looking into chaning out my stock pistons for CP forged.... Thanks in advance for any help!

Oil usage at first...this may lead to a misfire code or maybe some 02 sensor code....if you have the resources to go CP forged just do it and save yourself the worry.

Dont fix what is not broken!!

Look for oil during start up, loss in power, rough idle, CEL, oil consumption and other weird issues.

If you are tuned it's not a big deal. You won't cause any issues. The problem was the fact that there was a bad tune. If you are tuned it won't happen.

Thanks guys...... Feeling a little better here...... The car is running great! NO oil burn at all, idle is perfect, no knocking so far.... My only concern is the fact that she seems a little slow... I'm thinking the AZ heat and a TMIC.......

We've been over this before...several people that had been protuned still had this ringland issue with the car. A software tune will not prevent mechanical problems like an incorrect gap from the factory. Best of wishes and good luck!

K... This answers nothing.... My question was "what should I look out for"... I'm not trying to get into the whole weak 07 motor debate..... I just want to know what might happen if I run into this problem......

i have been thru it. i first noticed a puff of smoke coming out of the exhaust during full boost upshifts. i logged it and noticed a misfire on cylinder #4. hooked up a compression tester and it was at 50 psi. didnt really consume oil or feel slow till it was really bad. you will also have weak vacuum at idle and it wont produce full boost. even at the end, i never got a cel. the easiest way to check is to log cylinder roughness. or do a compression check.

the best thing you can do is log once in a while to make sure its not pulling timing. and make sure your tuner disabled the 2 extra d/a maps! nobody knows what triggers them and they will randomly add a buttload of extra timing and you will never know it! mine was fine on the dyno, but once it hit the street it was all over in less than 2,000 miles!
