Default engine management system?

alright im definitely going to sound retarded in this thread so bear with me. i have been looking at several threads about downpipes including the one i posted and i have seen that multiple people say that if your going to get a new dp then get an engine management system. why is that? and what exactly would that do for me? also i was looking at the invidia v3 catless dp, what the hell is a divorced waste gate? all answers are appreciated. thanks

Default Re: engine management system?

Engine Management refers to systems like the most popular Accessport, Ecutek, Utec etc... short version on what they do is up your boost/fuel levels to adapt to modifications(like the downpipe). They also help to get the most horsepower out of the mods you put on. I recommend the Accessport by Cobb Tuning, I used it with my 03' bugeye and my current 06' STI and have been really happy with it. It has maps for your basic mods and if you start really modifying you can get what is called a pro-tune. Having the Accessport allows your local tuner to tap into your ECU and tune your car to your exact mods and get the most horsepower/torque, while making it safe... I'll beat everyone to the punch and say it... You need to search as there are a million threads asking this same question....
