Default new internals....

I'm looking to upgrade the internals of my 07 STI with some forged goodness. I know Crawford and Cosworth offer high end sweet products but is it really necessary to spend that much money? Are Wiseco, Eagle, CP good products?

Is it possible to get all the internals for around $1500 and still have a rock solid beast of an engine?

What are some brand to stay away from and what are some good alternatives?

Its easy to say "spend the extra money" when its not your money to play with....Cosworth/Crawford are very well known and I would be fine spending the money if someone could explain why they are better...not just "because"

I've really been wondering about this as well. Between the oil pickup tube and the pistons its a miracle I can sleep at night Anyway would definitely like to hear some experts thoughts. Also is it really worth just getting the pistons? If you're already having to pay to get the motor torn apart should you just bite the bullet and do all the whole bottem end.

Also I may be way out in left field but I thought CP pistons were Crawford???

CP and Crawford are different companies. The stock crank and rods are already forged, the pistons are the weak point. Stock rods are good to 450-500 whp and the only advantage under that is to get a lighter weight rod. I have a few customers running close to 500 whp on stock rods with no issues.

You can use your stock block, but just prepare to be down for a few weeks or months. Even if you have a new block, you will be down for twice as long as you think, it always happens.

FlyingPerformance, do you you have any thoughts or personal experience on the question of whether the higher dollar parts are worth it? (Say CP vs Crawford now that I know they aren't the same )

Edit: I'm a retard, just saw where you recommended the coated CP's above
Wow and that's crazy. I work with a Robert Jacobs--wierd. Thanks Robert
