Default Which downpipe?

Hey everyone

I'm looking into getting a downpipe so I can finally go stage 2.

All I have as far as mods go is a GReddy Ti-C exhaust and a Cobb AP.

Now I have an 07 STI and have heard that most tuners recommend a catted DP with the 07's due to some tuning issues. That is fine with me as I'm not looking for every single last hp out of my set up. But my question is what downpipe should I get? I need it to fit the catback I have and I need it to not be too expensive lol. Are there any suggestions?

Thanks

This might at least help you out with which brands will have the correct flange for your cat back

helix is the cheaper one, though they are the same quality as invidia. your exhaust fits the helix for sure - the site (bottom link) offers the DP with the greddy exhaust as a bundle.

here's a site with the helix DP - they offer free shipping. though i dunno about the pricing - you may be able to find a cheaper site, cause these guys just increased their prices (at least for the helix DPs) by 50 bucks:

Sorry i haven't updated this for a while but i haven't had the money to get a downpipe til now and after a lotta research i am more confused than ever. Does anyone know whether the MadDad Metal Bellmouth (MadDad(TM) Metal Bellmouth Downpipe :: Downpipes :: Exhausts :: Daddy's Sport Compact Performance) downpipe will fit the Greddy Ti-C? I've read that MadDad is great quality and no fitment issues. And 450 for a catted downpipe isn't too bad. So I just want to make sure that this will fit my exhaust?

And if it doesn't, I guess I'll order a Helix catted for something like 350 since people have said it usually fits.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say no but please someone correct me if I'm wrong. I'm GUESSING that since you're currently running the Greddy Ti-C and factory down pipe that the Greddy necks down to 2.5" and uses the factory donut gasket where it connects to the dp. The downpipe you listed above uses a 3" flange. Maddad sells another 2 piece dp
MadDad(TM) Metal V2 two-piece Downpipe :: Downpipes :: Exhausts :: Daddy's Sport Compact Performance
that you can use the donut gasket. Or another suggestion would be the cobb. Hope this helps

EDIT: It really all boils down to how the dp's and the catback connect to one other. There are 2 possible options--factory donut gasket (exhausts and catbacks that neck down where they connect to 2.5") and those that use a 3" flat flange. Most websites will say or the picture of the dp should make it obvious if it will work or not and you can shop with confidence. Please verify that your specific Greddy uses the donut though as thats the one part i'm not sure about.

FWIW I've been running an Injen catless for almost 2 years now bolted up to a Greddy Evo2. Never had any issues and they bolt up fine. I believe they have a catted one as well.

Is the bottom one your exhaust?
GReddy 02-07 WRX & STi EVO 2 & TI-C Catback Exhausts,WRX & STi Exhaust from JSC Speed
If so then it looks like it tapers and re-uses the donut gasket and you need to go with a dp that does the same (i.e. the 2-piece maddad, cobb, or other). Anytime some one who actually owns this cat back and wants to chime in and confirm what I'm saying, that would be awesome...but I'm pretty sure I'm right

EDIT: Since you mentioned maddad specifically I'm assuming you liked it and I've read nothing but good things about their products (haven't personally owned--but scoping out their headers). I'm sure if you just gave them a call or shot them an email they could confirm for you 100%
