Default What oil do you run in summer time?

Now that its getting 105+ outside my oil mobile1 5w30 is no longer holding, im thinking about trying a 10-30 to see if it stands the heat. Right now i have lost 8psi on my oil pressure when its hot out so idle is like 14psi and wot is only getting 80psi no were close to normal. I kept thinking it was just getting to low as an oil change would fix the problem for a little bit but it keeps coming back and im not burning an more oil then i do during the winter.

I'm running Mobil 1 10w30 during these hot Florida months. No problems, oil pressures are fine.

105? I'd go with a 40 or 50. I'm running Eneos 5w40 and its great, but it hit 90 here (hot as !@#$ for the bay area) and I noticed my oil pressure running a bit lower than I like.

if you burn a massive amount of oil (1qt/500 miles or more) diesel oils can kill the cats. with normal consumption its not a problem.

a 30wt is a 30wt. if your oil pressure is dropping when its hot and your oil is in good shape, run a 40wt. depending on the conditions the manual specs up to a 50wt.

i personally would run a 40wt in your weather. it sure wont hurt. if you dont like it, go back to a 30 wt next time. i doubt you will switch back though. just get a good synthetic and your all set. amsoil and mobil both make a 0W40 and a 5W40. i ran the amsoil powersports 0W40 in my stock motor and it ran great (until i busted a ringland, but that aint the oils fault!).

If you are having problems with the oil you are running in your car being to thin in the summer. Because you are in SOCAL and the temp. out there dosn't drop below 0 deg that often in the winter you can run 10w30 or 10w40 for the oil pressure that you want. But on the other side of that coin the oil temp will go up the thicker you go in your oil choice.

Just a reminder the number after the "W" is the winter weight. So 10w30 is what I ran while I was living in San Diego and LA. year round. Make is your pref.
