Crossover Pipe

Hi guys, im looking to get a pro tune soon when i put on my downpipe. But i was thinking about also adding this x pipe in before i get my tune you know so its more worth it. My questions is how beneficial is this mod with my stock turbo?

mods- cai,dp,bov,cat back.

There is no such thing as an x pipe on an sti. Do you mean a catback? And get rid of the BOV you're car will run alot better. Especially if its not tunned.

I have the BPM crossover pipe in preparation for my protune and the consensus seems to be that you need to port the manifold to get the most out of the xpipe. The stocker is really small with steps from the mani which could impede flow. You should be able to spool a little faster once tuned and gain a few HP/TQ from what I've heard. Butt dyno says it helps a little - but I haven't done the protune yet. Be careful with the sensor when you remove the manifold so you don't have to replace it - $200 later and I'm back in business. Sounded like it was leaking from the flex section but it was just exhaust valve ticking coming through - wrapped the entire pipe and sound is gone. Do it if you're thinking of porting the manifold. My $.02

I wouldn't bother with the crossover pipe while the stock UP is still in place. It's about the same as the cross pipe.

I also heard that a PnP Exhaust manifold is reccomend when adding the cross over pipe, witch is why im skeptical about getting it. I dont have the money just yet to purchase the cross over pipe and get a pnp manifold. I would have to wait month more for the manifold. Alot of people tell me an uppipe is a waste of money until i get another turbo.

The ported manifold and bigger cross pipe will just get choked back down by the stock UP. I'd just put the funds aside until you have what you need to replace it all at one time. JMO.

ive spoken to quite a few people about this, including people who make them.

Jeremy at crucial said that cross over pipes are less and less noticible as the turbos get bigger. You will really only notice a difference on the stock turbo and its not even that HUGE of a gain.

Right now i run PPC exhaust manifold with stock cross pipe. I also have a 44mm EWG setup.

The cross pipe is nice but i dont think its worth the 200 bucks. You can spend the 200 somewhere else and make much more use out of it...example...money towards an EWG setup or even perhaps towards a new intercooler.

How much louder to the pnp manifolds with a new crossover and up-pipe make the exhaust sound? Is it the same as getting headers. The reason I ask is because I want to get a catless downpipe, but I dont want it any louder than that. I know headers make it quite a bit louder.

The sound is exactly the same as stock.

I do plan on keeping the stock turbo till next year. How much gain is there from a EWG set up?

its not really there for power gain, its for boost management.
