Default Downpipe wrap

Purchasing a catted Invidia V4 downpipe from CVR Motorsports and I am wondering if it is necessary for me to get downpipe wrap? Does the downpipe cause a lot of heatsoak? Just dont wanna spend money on wrap if I dont have to.

Thanks.

It isn't necessary but it helps.

It helps by how much...like a night and day difference? And also can it cause reliability issues without wrap?

Reliability w/o wrap is fine. What it does is help keep the hot air from heatsoaking the TMIC and creeping into the engine bay. It also helps keep the hot air in the pipe which helps power. I would do it if I were you but it isn't something that you'll be floored by.

Just be sure and wrap it tight so that air cannot get under the wrap. You will also need ties to hold the wrap in place.

Where is a good place to buy wrap and ties? Also is there a good aftermarket heat shield available?

Get the wrap on ebay. Got a 2" x 50' roll for like 20$ with the zipties and shipping. Get a spray bottle and wet the wrap so it can flex better then pull very tight as you go down and overlap the previous layer by half. It's extremely easy, just wear some of those latex gloves.

As for the heatshield, you would probably be better off getting one of those turbo wraps from ebay for like 30 or so. Covers the hot side of the turbo with material similar to the exhaust wrap (I'm assuming).

I know fastwrx.com has some wrap kits that include wrap, ties and spray. They are also really cool guys to deal with.
