Its normal to humm. If you turn your car to acc it will hum. At least mine does.

Now it gets tricky. I'm not sure if the actuator is the problem or a symptom of something else that's wrong. I'd check the wires coming out of it to make sure none got pinched when you put the IC back on.

that will happen when you blow a big ass fuse, like a 100. Check those, same thing happened to me...

Do you have a test light to find a short?

Found the problems, was more then one. Thanks to morepsithebetter we figured it was my map sensor, then the second problem was i need a new battery.

I reconnected the map sensor and jumped the car and now it works.

suck's about the battery my friend...take it up to kragens and let's do a battery test, they can figure out if it's STill good or not...hopefully it's not the dreaded ~50,000 mile alternator failure that some of us get...

yah under the red rubber cap(mine came loose for some reason) where the alternator has a bolt that it is just held up by a nut sometimes it just get's loose and needs a re-tighten(sounded like broken engrish )

A Subaru mechanic told me that the humming sound that comes from the throttle actuator motor is normal, its like a calibration phase at startup.


Whats this about 50,000 miles alternator change??? i had to replace my power steering pump due to hard auto x sessions and some off roading weekends.

yah we lose are alternators before 100,000 miles; i've seen it on the forums quite a bit
