Default ESX TMIC fitment question

I was doing a little research and was wondering is there any different ESX TMICs made for the STI vs a wrx? I looked on some sites and saw that there is a different spearco intercooler for wrxs vs STIs and since the ESX is basically a rebranded spearco, was wondering if I got a ESX TMIC off a WRX guy if itd fit. Anyone have any insignt? thanks

The ESX stuff was only offered on STi's so I am assuming there isn't one for the WRX. Back in the day, I had one on my STi and loved it, that is before I went FMIC but now I would love to have one back.

So you know, a guy on Nasioc is selling one for pretty cheap.

ok well i purchased the ESX TMIC today, and now im having doubts as to whether or not itll fit. I know theres a difference between the wrx and STI spearco tmic's and the difference is in the brackets i beleive.

I was doing some research and came accross these pictures:
FS: (CA) - Used ESX TMIC

Although the bracket on the right hand side looks to be the same, the bracket on the left side, that is all the way in the corner, definately is different on the one i got today. Its more in the center and up a little. Did i happen to get the one and only wrx specific ESX TMIC?! or whats the deal?! Im kinda worried now that it wont fit. Any insight would be helpful

wait but then theres this picture:

PA: FS ESX TMIC, Zerosports Splitter, & Blitz SUS Intake

Which is what mine looks like. The left bracket is higher and a little bit more toward the center. WOW im so confused

Then theres this pic where the bracket is lower but it looks like the TB to IC hose is being stretched and its kinda not fitting correctly......

**POLL**: Trade Stock IC for ESX IC...opinions?

Whats strange is that this person has a spearco just like the other STI ones on his 06 WRX and it fits fine. If the spearcos are for 02-07 wrx and 04 to 07 sti then that shouldnt work right?

How about a oem sti tmic? Its perfectly matched to the VF turbos and easily handles the heat.

K, with that said. I have a Spearco and its 10/10 theres no con to it, it fits perfect, easily handles my 20G, fit and finish is top notch.

The only downside I've heard is the TurboXS is not made in China and the quality isn't what it used to be. Its also larger than it needs to be.

Oh and the Spearco is 18.5x6.5x4.5, i think it got smaller for the DBW cars..this is what gruppe-s has down and IIRC what mine came out to with a measuring tape.

Have you removed your stock TMIC and tried to mount the ESX? It looks like it will fit to me b/c your throttle body connection will sit lower and the side mounts will go down with it.

edit: I see what you mean with the bracket but to my knowledge, they didn't make an ESX WRX specific TMIC. Maybe they made a revision to that bracket? Try and mount it and let us know what the fitment issues are.

Looks like it will fit with the stock length intercooler/throttle body coupler.

i don't think ESX developed a tmic for a wrx, so my guess is that it'll fit.

well, I called ESX just now to get to the bottom of this and the guy basically said that "most" of the ESX Top mounts were made for the sti, but its possible that the brackets were different from another year. He also mentioned that the STI one should fit on a WRX and as long as the hoses connect correctly and I found some way to mount it up, it would be fine. So he said the brackets should fit my car fine.

I guess the next step now is to mount it up and try it out and see what happens. I guess worst comes to worst, I can always just have the mounts rewelded.

yeah i was gonna say, it doesnt look like a complicated fab job at all, and i agree that it will fit, the bracket is off, but maybe because it lets it sit lower in the engine bay
