Default Wideband Option

Hi,

I am currently looking at the opensource EM and I would like to install a wideband 02 to help me tune. I am planning to use a tactrix 2.0 cable.

Apparently, 2.0 will let you log directly without the use of a laptop which sound great to me.

My questions:

1.- Is there an option or something I will be missing if I am going with a LC-1? Better suggestion?

2.- I have read in many thread and people are complaining about the longevity of the sensor. I dont want to leave it on my car all the time. Use some sort of plug on the bung on the downpipe I guess. Am I being paranoid?

thanx

Mart

Any sensor for a wideband dont last very long all depends on luck. If it dies you just buy a new sensor most poeple go with the one from bosch its like 50 bucks or something.

You can't go wrong with Innovative widebands. They are just about an industry standard for most tuners. As far as wideband sensors going bad, this generally takes quite a long time on pump gas. Most 02 sensors foul out due to excessive exposure to race gas with lead.

I have two widebands, and one is always in my car all the time. You need it to know when something isn't right. The outside environment, fluctuations in octane, and various other things will constantly change how a turbo charged car is running. I've had days where I get on my car and get no knock, and then the next day I get on it and it will knock. IMO its wiser to keep the wideband in at all times. In fact when most guys on here are looking at gauges, I often suggest a Wideband AFR gauge be their first or second gauge.

AEM UEGO is a viable option. Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe it can now work with the Enginuity software to add more resolution to your datalogs.

I remember seeing something over on NASIOC. From what I understand there is a provision for the LC-1 in the latest software.

So general tuning question, you take your car for a dyno tune for example. You don't have the screw connection for a wideband sensor on your DP. What does the tuner do?

The tuner might plug the sensor at the end of your exhaust.

Ok, now lets attempt to answer the other question. 8 inches from the turbo outlet, or is less ok? Many DPs that come with a WBO2 port have it like 3 inches from the turbo.

Zietronix makes a nice wideband with a lot of capabilities. They also have other gauges as well. They have a software that will let you log boost and AFRs. You just have to buy stuff seperately.

Yes it is true that the newest version of RomRaider has provisions for both the LC-1 and the AEM wideband sensors.
Previous versions were able to decipher the data as well through a plug in.
