I am not saying they are lying, but they gave you the wrong info.. If you want to run a stock location Turbo like the GT 52 the parts you have will work with that Turbo. Like Kit said its not a rotated setup check out the link he gave you.

The GT52 is a great Turbo look at the power Bragging section and you will see results for it..

The GT52 uses a Garret Housing, its a GT3076. what you need well depends on what you have already. What mods do you have on your car right now.
Also you mean Lag not Lack... The GT52 is a good Turbo you can make pretty decent power on lower boost then some others and the spool up is pretty good but that depends on your tune aswell so we need more info brother... Where you from??
