Radiator caps dont have threads, they are more of a twist lock deal.

Updates flatthump!

What's the deal with this radiator?

I haven't worked any more on the drawing. I've had a guest over for about a week....leaving tonight. Hope to get Daniel the drawing at the end of the weekend. I have some stuff to do to my car.

And the title of this thread really needs to be changed.

Something like: "Tapping into oil cap--extra crankcase ventilation?"

Wow this is the funniest thing ever... How is this going to make a gain. Maybe if you guys thought about what is actually happening in doing this you might have answers. All you are really doing is what the PCV already does..

Yep....Post 53...we have thought about it. Thanks.

The experiment will be when this "vented oil cap" is hooked into the same system of hoses as the aforementioned oil separator(s). The theory would be that the same "vacuum" drawing oil into your intake/intercooler lines would relieve minor amounts of crankcase pressure via the oil-fill tube.
I am waiting on results from flatthump. He knows his shi*. Datalogs and a few "dyno" runs should satisfy even the biggest critic. Or create 20 more pages of debate...LOL

Somebody mentioned it would affect oil pressure. The answer to that is no. It has nothing to do with oil pressure. Anyone find anything new?

Interesting...

I would think the PCV system would handle this adequately. Maybe this is one of those secret areas Subaru hides performance so next year when a faster Evo comes out, they can throw on a different oil cap and keep up.

I think that there is probably more truth to this than us old-timers want to admit

Here, IMHO, is why the PCV system doesn't handle this appropriately. This is a brand new PCV valve that I ordered. Although the nipples are huge (lol), Subaru restricts the actual volume to a rediculously small size.

Big thanks to Daemon for showing me this awhile ago. Finally got to see it myself and was flabbergasted.
