Now that Ive had the car ecuteked I'm thinking about putting a turbo back in becuase boost creep is no longer an issue. Are there any quiet ones? I want to build a sleeper and dont want it too loud. A little louder then stock would be ok.

Thanks

Do those blow out a lot of black smoke due to being catless? Or does it have a CAT and I overlooked something?

i've been lusting after a titanium turbo back exhaust, but maybe this is more realistic... though i'd love the weight savings and look, cost is high and i would get tired of a noisy car very quick (i drive a lot). is there anything lost power-wise by sticking with the stock muffler (too restrictive)?

I will be trying out the new Greddy Evo 2, it should be fairly quiet however not silent. The borla hush sounded great on a wrx and was silent and I believe there are a few others that will help. I know those are catbacks, but any downpipe will bolt up to them pretter much.

Robert~

btw the greddy evo 2 will be a FULL 3" catback... meaning no reductions like even some of the loud exhausts... definitely a plus for those of us with 3" downpipes.

scoobysport and the greddy evo are probably the most quiet on the market, however it depends on how quiet you are talking about...

the stock exhaust has a good note and the closest you will find to that is the turboxs stealthback (because it keeps the stock catback)... the invidia, autospeed, and borla hush all have great sounds and will not drone on the highway...

ya, my only problem with stock, is that it kinda sounds "messy" or nasty to me. Especially the FULL setups that are all straight pipes and then stock catback. I dun know... I heard a wrx with a quiet catback on it and it sounded great. Deep, yet smooth. The stock just seems to have a "gurgle" or a messiness to it i guess... I dun know. I will get a pro camera and grab some videos soon, hopefully I can purchase the exhaust as well soon, however right now im brokkee

Robert~

They have both kinds, country and western.

You can order a high-flow cat, or a catless racepipe.

There is no such thing as a quiet turbo back if you're running no cat. If you want quiet, and want decent performance I would get a highflow cat, and a 22" resonator combo. That will give you a deep, smooth rumble.

If you want smooth, subtle sound.... get highflow cat w/ long resonator

If you want raspy, nasty, mean sounding...... get straight 3 or 3.5" with no cat no resonator

I personally have the Invidia tbe and it is very loud. However, don't forget that a lot of tbe's such as the invidia come with silencers. My car is only a little louder than stock with the silencer in. Hope that gives you another option. Plus it is very easy to put in, since it goes right in the back of the exhaust.

I just ordered my B&B turbo-back exhaust system. It's nice and quiet...... and I can get you a good deal on it. http://www.bbexhaust.com/2001WRX.mov
