a dyno tune will always be better than any reflash. The only thing is that if you get a ecutec type flash tune, you wont be able to change it. The up side of that is its cheap. The other option is getting an accessport, then getting tuned and flashing the map onto your car. This gives you the option to switch maps whenever you want and you can read all sorts of live data. downside is its 700+tune which is over 1000.

well if you're running on a really tight budget, the best bet is to get an open source tune. contact your local tuner shop for that. The accessport is 700 and u COULD just run the OTS stage 2 map but thats up to you

Yes you are definately new...Welcome! Also a reflash is the same thing as a tune. You are reflashing the ecu of the car with a new tune that is custom tuned for your mods, fuel, and car. There are many tools that are used for reflashing the ecu with the new tune.

You need to research the following to learn about each one before you decide what is best for your needs:

Cobb Accessport- CobbTuning.com - Home Page ( A hand held tool that is used to store maps from Cobbs website as well as custom maps that are made by protuners using Cobb Protuner software. This unit also has a bunch of other things it is capable of doing. It will be used to reflash your ecu with whatever tune you are wanting to use. Cost $695.)

Ecutek- an expensive program that a tuner uses to reflash your ecu. This is locked into the ecu and can only be changed with ecutek. You have to pay a licensing fee to the tuner for this software. Cost around $600-700 if I recall.

Opensource (ecuflash and enginuity) Free downloadable software that you can use to tune or have a tuner use it to tune your car. You will need a tactrix cable and a wideband to tune. If you use a tuner he should have a wideband. tactrix, Downloads - OpenECU, RomRaider - Open Source ECU Tools | RomRaider / Rom Raider

if you're not looking to spend too much..buy a Tactrix cable (~$80), download a free stage 2 map and flash it yourself using the free software...eventually i think you should get a protune. Definitely not a good idea to run a DP & exhaust w/o a reflash..so doing it asap is a good idea..
