Default 07 blew up 15500 miles

my 07 motor is done. one day i was at the beach and my CEL came on so i checked it and it said cyl 4 misfire. i am stock. stage one. i took it to a local reputable mechanic and he did a compression test and told me to go to the Dealer. i went to the dealer and my CEL was off,i cleared it. big mistake. i went and they said nothing was wrong, they reset my ECU. i bought the car with 6,xxx miles on it. i dont have any aftermarket parts. i brought it back to them when me CEL came on and now they said my compression on CYL 4 was under 100. they are pulling the motor tomorrow to see the damage. are they going to try and blame me for it blowing up? or are they going to be kind and replace it under warranty. what should i tell them if they try to say its my fault. i mean i drive the car kind of hard sometimes, but who doesnt? its an STi. so they will call me sometime tomorrow and let me know. im anxious and worried. i want my car back...

I dont quite undersand. First you said yr stock, then you said you're stage 1? Which one are you? If you're stock its 100% their responsibility, so dont worrie. If not they can blame some crap on you. Good luck either way! And when was yr car manufactured?

Yeah were you Cobb stage one. If you were that or some other stage one I hope you flashed back to stock before you took it in to the dealer.

you should be fine, they know that a bunch of 07s are blowing up and I don't see them detecting the ap in any way so you should have a new engine coming your way. Make sure you get a protune next time.

The manufacture date should be on the inside of the door area, on the frame. And I think saying you're motor "blew up" is a little over the top. Makes it sound like it litteraly exploded into flames. Good luck with it though!

You must have had your's tuned right away or at least didnt drive on it hard yet. The problem I heard was that there is a Lean spot when the turbo kicks in (the way it comes stock) and since its not rich enough if blow's one or two of the pistons. Who wants a car back after 5000 miles that has already had the motor pulled? $36,500- 07- brand new -no bueno - they should have had it right like the 04-05's I heard the 06 isnt near as bad as the 07 but still has some problems as well with what they had to do to make it pass emissions

see thats the thing, when i got it i drove it for a couple thousand miles with no AP and who knows, the guy before me that had it might have driven it hard. i said motor blew up so more people would read the post. sorry and i dont have the car near me to look at the manufacturers date. its an hour away. what do you need it for, is there a certain year they made the 07's blow up or somethig? and when i get it back, i really want to get a protune to give me roughly 350 to 380 AWHP and AWTQ. you think i will "blow" it up again or what? i wish i had the money to put forged pistons in....

Before a certain manufacture date more cars were pronned to faliure. I think it had to do with defected piston rings. Dont recall exactly, but something of that nature. You can find it in the 07 "blow up" fourms. haha. Hope for the best buddie!
