IWSTI Addict since: May 2004 Trader Rating: (0) | Just not a big fan of removing bumper beams... I'll probably never need them, but I just hate the following thought... "Mrs., we deny the insurance for your crippled husband. The reason is that we find he altered the DOT safety equipment on his vehicle, contrary to the agreement in the insurance contract. Have a nice day." This ad is not endorsed by this member. Please register or login to hide this ad. |

IWSTI Addict since: May 2003 Trader Rating: (7) | For sure if modding anything causes you to lose sleep at night, then you shouldn't do it. I'm comfortable that it's not a personal safety issue, only a cost of repair issue. In an accident the front bumper won't save your life - it's a straight beam that is intended to protect your engine in low speed crashes. In high speed impacts, it's only along for the ride. The engine and unibody are used to crumple and absorb the energy. Same for the rear - there's a whole lot of car between you and the rear bumper. I'm just fine with my JDM front beam for 3.3 mph impacts, and my custom lightweight rear bumper for ??? mph impacts... CF driveshaft is available, but we'd need a group buy of 5 for approx. $1300 each.... |

| Authorized Vendor | If anybody purchases a CF driveshaft from this company, please let us know. Currently, we have only found one out of the UK that can actually be considered for race use. If this is cheaper alternative and certified for street use, then this is one more thing we can keep in mind as a way to save weight on a street car. This ad is not endorsed by this member.
