^that's what 401k's are for.

paying 35k for an asset that devaluates inmediatelly and is nothing but a liability is not exactly "smart" investment....then again if everybody thought like that we'd all be dirving a toyota prius and carpooling.

so let him spend his damn 6k.

2)Front Mount
3)Injectors
4)Clutch
5)Fuel Pump
6)EM I like the Cobb AP2
7)TBE or Catback depending on whether rotated or not
8)Spark Plugs
9)Maybe headers if the budget allow for it
10)Externally gated if the budget allows for it

My goals are to have a daily driver that can do well in the quarter mile and retain stock like drivability.
Well really depends on your goals power wise... What are you looking for?? That is gonna tell you how much of a budget you need. Cause if your just looking for a killer DD.. Then

Turbo 20G or FP Green
APS TMIC or FMIC
GT SPEC Headers
44MM EWG
DW 740cc or 850cc Injectors
255 pump
APS 70mm CAI
Turbo Inlet
TGV's
Invidia TBE
Aquamist HFS 5
A protune with a Meth Map and a Non meth map..

Grand Total is about $6500 w/tunes with this 400-425WHP setup.. You can save some $$ if you find some of these parts used..

Your right but then He needs 10K for this project.... Use your 6K and get a zero% credit card for all the suspension parts..

True. But, I think doing well in a quarter mile is much more than just power. You have to put it to the ground. Efficiently and effectively.

1-Sti strut mounts
2-new struts or coil-overs
3-energy suspension master bushing set
4-Cobb AP v2
5-inlet tube
6-cold air intake
7-oil catch can
8-cat back exhaust

But thats just me. For daily driving I go for reliability with
some juice to spare

I wouldn't push the stock block that high. but that's just me after researching on it's limits. I'd take the EWG out since he said DD. He'll be deaf after a year of DD.

Personally, as much as people say meth is safe, I've seen it not be. So i'd delete that. I'd go for FMIC and go to a reputable shop to get it all tuned under a conservative tune. And teach myself to datalog and look for troubles. It is less power yeah, but if you need a reliable DD that pushes 400whp, you'll need another car or way more $$. just my 2c

Yup TGV deletes.... You dont have to do them, but if you are gonna do lets say a APS Inlet you might as well since you have to remove the manifold..

Our cars should come with a EWG Stock.... If you are worried about the noise you can just route thru the exhaust.. Especially being from PA I would think you agree with the EWG with the weather. Limits on the stock block isnt just one number, I have seen guys break @ 350WHP and see guys running strong with 450++WHP.. Meth of done right with a good system is real safe, personally I agree if I was gonna run meth I would run a Meth Tune and a Non Meth tune for my DD. But with a good system like a HFS-5 with all fail safes your 100% safe..

You are right about the weather being a pain if your car creeps. But I'd try wg porting first. As for the power limits, I know that all depends on the tune and the amount of abuse you give to the car, but generally speaking, you won't find high milleage cars that have been running 450whp for long miles.

I'll admit, I'm tempted by meth. we'll see.

I dunno, I'm willing to bet that on average, high hp stock blocks have lasted longer than high hp built blocks.

a lot of it is that built blocks tend to push 8k+ redlines and nuts power mods. These people take more chances with them because they are "tough blocks" and because to justify the $$$ you may as well go for the kill. Yet, sometimes luck comes back to hunt them and blow up. But I guess that's fine with them since once you're going custom block, $$$ is not much of a concern. Just build another!
