Another thing to remember. The ECU (07 anyway and I would think every year) has a compensation to WG based on intake temperature. Basically, the colder it gets, the less WG the turbo uses. Because of this, I rarely have noticeable deviation from the boost I expect to see. This ad is not endorsed by this member. Please register or login to hide this ad.

Well thats good for you than ![]() I live in texas though, where its hot even in winter. This morning I wore shorts, sandals, an a t shirt to school and felt hot in class and no im not fat Here in austin it's 76 degree's out and its not even the warmest day I think because the AEM does not use the factory snorkle for air from the front, lacks a heatshield, and is also located farther away from the fender where the cold air is, It would just heat soak instantly. Thus causing my terrible loss in power

| Iron Fisted | I have the TXS SRI and only get heatsoak when sitting in traffic. But I'm so used to it now I bet I get more than I think. Then again, I am tuned for it, so that makes a difference too. But looking back, I would have gone with a CAI instead. You live and you learn.. |

IWSTI Addict since: Oct 2006 Trader Rating: (9) | i got my cobb sri, i havent noticed any effect in performance. of course its gonna get heatsoaked, but a cold air intake is going to get heat soaked too. and my tq is still there, though i am only stage 1 cobb, i noticed no difference after b4 and after the cobb intake. |

IWSTI Addict since: Jun 2007 Trader Rating: (2) | you can't tune out heat soak. It is what it is and will happen with every short ram. The only way to hide it would be to detune the car to a point where you wouldn't notice the power loss when heat soaked, ie low timing and or boost. |

IWSTI Addict since: Feb 2008 Trader Rating: (0) | I had the SPT intake with heat sheild for a few months, it came on the car, and I liked it... But logging IAT's well into the 100's with the car pulling timing and going slow until I rode around at 40 MPH or so for 5 minutes was kind of a bummer. I upgraded to an APS 65mm CAI, and what a world of difference. It pulls in hot air while idling in traffic, almost as bad as the SPT did. The big difference is it takes literaly seconds for the IAT to start dropping once I get moving, as opposed to minutes with the SPT. The SPT would drop to about 15 degrees above outside temp, the APS drops to around 5. I didn't have anything against the SPT intake, but I'm glad it's keeping dustt from settling on the shelf in the garage at this point. I was dreading another toasty FL summer of hot air from under the hood. The only gripes I have with the APS unit is having to partially disassemble the fender liner to get to the element and to do the install. It was nice to just be able to get to the SPT, no problem. Now, about that heatsoaked top mount... |

I'm using Crawford from CAI, turbo all the way to exhaust tip, i'm really happy with their products. |

IWSTI Addict since: Jul 2007 Trader Rating: (0) | Before ever knowing about this site I had a 06 Wrx "Check journal to see what happened to it" and the Dealership guys told me to buy an Injen CAI And a Turbo Xs Bov from them that it would make the car faster. Using my expanded NA knowledge on a FI engine I figured it would be nice... 2 Years later + wrx death + Iwst + 04 Sexy Sti had shown me that intakes in an stock turbo are like wasting money under body neon lights. And the dude that told me to buy the intake is a "reputable tuner" to the eyes of some people My Wrx was my first turbo car at and i was 17. I learned a lot from it till we had to part with it. Now I have my Sti and I know when to LoL at BOV ppl This ad is not endorsed by this member. Please register or login to hide this ad. |
