Default Bushur Racing Exhaust?

Does anyone on here have one? How do you like it?

What attracts me is the lightweight of it considering it's still stainless steel and has a quiet muffler option. I currently have a COBB and while it's quiet, I don't like the 2.5" bottleneck at the downpipe connection and the heavy gauge SS used.

I'm in the market for a TBE... I will probably send everything to crucial for coating. Is it worth it to coat ALL the piping all the way to the muffler? Is it worthwhile to even coat the muffler itself?

I was thinking of coating the downpipe inside and out and the midpipe inside and out.. .and the axleback piping on the outside... leave the axleback piping inside alone and leave the muffler alone.

Opinions?

just coat the downpipe, the other isn't necessary.
JIC makes a super light exhaust also, titanium ftw...moolah though..but light.

If I were to go with a custom full body tray, coating at least the midpipe might be necessary... since heat under the car could be a problem... what do u guys think?

I've seen the JIC exhaust... it's great and all, but loud... one of the mandates of my car is it's a DD and therefore the exhaust must be COBB-quiet or quieter at cruise... WOT, I'm more liberal.

I don't how the Buschur exhaust sounds on a Subi, but I know the evo guys really like them. Plus Buschur Racing is one of the greatest shops around when it comes to R&D of thier products. I think the only reason I didn't get a Buschur exhaust is because I'm not real big on slip fit systems, which on the evo the muffler section on one of thier systems is that way. However on the other system I think it bolts up. I do know though that they make excellent performance parts. They didn't just rip off a 172 mph run in the 1/4 mile over the weekend for nothing.

I would just coat the downpipe and call it a day.

With the slip fit, u can run some orange copper RTV on there before slipping the outer pipe on and it should be good, especially since it's not under boost. I did that with the Perrin slip fit headers and only got a MILD black soot leak, which I should be able to fix on the next "round" of RTV application.

I wonder if Full Race ever got around to making that alum exhaust... or how hard it would be to get a custom made Alum or Ti exhaust done (just the piping) with a magnaflow, bushur, or other quiet muffler.

What about

?

This is the BR (Buschur Racing) 3" TBE with the quiet muffler. If anyone has this please post a review and/or audio clip. I haven't been able to find much on it except some nasioc drivel that I don't want to read through.

Hell, dude, I think you should just do a dump tube with a short motorcycle can in the downturn and dump the gas out the side. It'll sure save weight if you do that.

Does anyone make an alum exhaust that is lighter?

How about Ti (besides the super loud JiC one)?

I can't comment on the quiet muffler edition for sound, but from my understanding the muffler itself is slightly longer then their regular edition for additional sound dampening.

The subaru exhaust is definitely a slip fit exhaust, it comes with a pair of band clamps for the slip fit sections. You should have no leaks once you've torqued the band clamps down.

im probably bringing this thread back from the dead but i have the buschur catback mated to a helix catless DP with their bullet muffler and at 70mph on the highway its definitely loud... WOT is rediculous , but id assume with a catted downpipe and their quiet muffler option it would sound very pleasant. it is a slipfit design but very high quality and very lightweight compared to my old greddy evo2. i think if you even just ran a cat you could get away with the bullet muffler option as well. hope my mini review helped.

I have the Buschur quiet muffler with the catted downpipe. it is not terribly loud to me. very pleasant. Last dyno session I was at, it was the quietest car on the dyno at WOT. I am switching to a catless downpipe this weekend though for a new tune at Buschur.

first impression: installed MadDad catless downpipe in place of Buschur racing catted downpipe. weird thing is I think it actually sounds quieter. this is idle in my garage and in my driveway. I have not driven the car yet. I will report back with more impressions. I will be driving it Monday morning to get tuned at Buschur racing, so I will have a feel for the sound much better then (highway cruising, stop light to stop light, dyno, etc).
