Default The Secret to the best exhaust

OK - so that's a hokey tag line, but it got you in here...so read on.

It’s been a VERY long time since I put together a comprehensive for sale thread on all of the different exhaust solutions we can put together here at Daddy’s SCP. And I do mean exhaust solutions. Anyone can sell you a catback or a downpipe, but you’ll see below that our careful selection of brands combined with many of the unique MadDad™ offerings means we can put together combos that just are not possible elsewhere. Lets start with your downpipe.

First lets lay out a couple of things. The factory downpipe(referring to the full length where it meets with the catback ) is made of two sections. Each has a cat in it. For 2006 and 2007 there was a change. The first section was made shorter and the second was made longer. The overall length however remained the same and this means any full length downpipe for a 2002 will still fit a 2006-2007. The same CANNOT be said for the “shorty” downpipes, which are the ones that only replace the first section/first cat. Because that pipe is smaller on the 2006/2007 you cannot use a shorty for a 2002-2005. That is a shame because many folks like to keep the last factory cat because it’s the “ultimate” OEM look because it is OEM, but no worry, Daddy’s SCP is the only vendor that carries a 2006/2007 specific shorty.

Lets take a look at all different downpipes and related parts we sell at Daddy’s SCP and then look at how they can be combined in various ways to create your perfect downpipe.

Photos of all the combos are at the end of this text. Many of the combo setups are not listed on the website as combos but as single parts to be put in the basket. I will be update the website shortly with some specific combo part#'s. In the meantime just PM if yoru interested in one of the combos listed here.

Legend: If there is something unique about a pipe it will be listed in BLUE text. Here are some other abbreviations used:
(F3) = Downpipe ends in a full 3” round flange with no provision for the donut gasket. Should be mated to a TRUE 3” catback…many catbacks advertised as 3” actually start off 2.5” because they are designed to mate with the factory style 2.5” donut gasket.
(TFD) – Tapered for donut gasket. This means the pipe is 3” most of the way but tapers to 2.5” at the very end and is designed for the 2.5” donut gasket and catbacks that mate to a donut gasket.
(25) – 2.5” diameter, meant for donut gasket but no taper since the hole pipe diameter is smaller.

FULL LENGTH DOWNPIPES:
ONE-PIECE

$579 MadDad™ Metal V2 One-Piece(F3)
Engineered to contorl boost creep/spikes. This downpipe is very unique. Utilizing a hi-flow metal substrate cat in the up high position combined with a no backpressure catless wastgate for the fastest possible boost control responce there isn't another downpipe on the market like the MadDad Metal V2. Wastegate separator flange, aux. 02 bung for tuning. Secondary catless section has a heatsheild "to product the 02 sensor from road debris". Some folks say it looks like cat from a visual standpoint. MadDad(TM) Metal V2's are hand fabricated in the USA.

$589 MadDad™ Metal V2 Two-Piece (F3 or TFD)
Same uniquely engineered solution but in a two-piece setup that lets you select the secondary catless section in a exit flange style that fits your catback intentions. Hand fabricated in the USA.

$449 MadDad™ Metal Bellmouth (F3)
The only catted downpipe utilizing a CARB certified metal substrate cat. Note, the downpipe as a whole is NOT CARB certified, but the cat we use is and is stamped with its CARB OE #. Starting its life as a MadDad(TM) Essential Catless Bellmouth which benefits from its modern cast bellmouth with extended wastegate merge(unique vs. all other bellmouths) and straight exhaust path exit(different from most bellmouth available), we then fit it with our brand new CARB approved performance 300 cell metal substrate cat. With the only available CARB approved metal substrate cat, which implies it has passed CARBs quality stadards...e.g. 50,0000 mile warranty, this one promises to set the standard in a catted bellmouth. Final assembly in USA. US manufactured catalytic converter.

$249 MadDad™ Essentials Catless Bellmouth (F3)
While most catless bellmouth downpipes look pretty much the same take a close look at the cast bellmouth housing on this in the photo sections below. Not only does it use a proper straight exit path for the primary exhaust path(only 1 other downpipe offers that) it also incorporates a more gradual merge of wastegate gases for less turbulent flow. Aux. 02 bung for wideband/tuning and an upper mount bracket that is designed for the STi(its about time). Perfect fitment and a perfect downpipe.

TWO-PIECE COMBOS

$719 MadDad™ Metal V2 Dual Cat(F3)
Just like it says. If your an environmental lover but still love performance this is the road to nirvana. Sporting dual metal substrate cats, the second metal substrate is then housed in a heatshield from a ceramic based cat to give it a more OEM look. This metal substrate cats sometimes look like small resonators rather than catalytic converters. With the heatshield fitted there is no mistaking this.

$499 Stromung / MadDad™ Secondary Cat(F3)
For those that plan on going with larger turbos and don't want to sacrifice an ounce of performance while still retaining a cat, this is the ultimate choice. Mating a Stromung DWG catless primary section with metal substrate based MadDad catted secondary section yields a downpipe that we gaurantee will perform as well as anyones catless or your money back...we're serious. The MadDad secondary hi-flow cat pipe has it's 02 sensor repositioned after the cat(it normall comes before it in the OEM position) meaning this is a NO CEL solution even if you don't run engine management. We can even do the Stromung section ceramic coated for an extra $50.

$359 Stromung / MadDad Catless(F3 or TFD)
It might look like it has a cat but that catless secondary section is indeed catless.

SHORTIES - replace first cat after turbo leaving the last factory cat visible under the car....for the "ultimate" OEM look)
Hayward&Scott(UK) of ScoobySportNA fame - NOTE: We only deal with Haward & Scott, not Janspeed...just in case any of you informed folks who know some history of ScoobySport,RallyPerformance, and Janspeed.

$349 Fully tapered bellmouth 2002-2005
$349 Fully tapered bellmouth 2006-2007
$189 Stromung DWG 2002-2005
$219 Bosal DWG 2002-2005

LAST CAT DELETE PIPES – these replace the last cat, the one that can be seen when looking under the car

$329 MadDad™ Secondary hi-flow metal substrate(F3) 2002-2005
This is the best hi-flow last cat replacement period. Why ? Metal substrate cat for superior flow, repositioned 02 bung means no cels even without engine mangagement, heatshield over the metal substrate cat means an appropriate OEM look(those metal substrate cats look like resonators not cats), 3" pipe but still works with 2.5" diameter shorties, hand fabricated in the USA. That pretty much sums it up. This is perfect mate to a the 3" Stromung DWG and 3" Crucial Racing Ceramic Coated shorty and works equally well with Bosal and Hayward&Scott downpipes(H&S is a tapered bellmouth that ends 2.5").

$209 MadDad™ 3CE(F3 or TFD) for 2002-2005
Despite the look this is a catless pipe. The trademark heat shield is only from the crazy minds at MadDad(TM)

$199 Haward&Scott Last Cat Delete 2006-2007
Just as described, a last cat delet specific to 2006-2007 model years.

We've got a couple people in our local club (including me) that will be picking up your catted midpipe (due to its "stealth" look) and whisper catback in a few months. Love your products and selection.

This is just a clarifying post. I've had a couple guys PM asking if they can run the $499 Stromung/MadDad catted combo on their 06 or 07. The answer is YES. The only clarifying point is you have to install both pieces at the same time which creates a full length downpipe. All full length downpipes will work on the 06 and 07's, and all two-piece setups so long as both pieces are installed at the same time.

That really depends. You can note from the starting post we can do downpipes in a lot of different ways. To some folks badass would be a catless downpipe with a heatshield - to others badass is the V2 Metal with a hi-flow metal cat and wastegate that is catless. The ultimate power downpipe while still catted in my mind is the Stromung/MadDad combo - but wait, maybe you want to keep your last cat for the ultimate OEM look....so the answer depends on what you value most. The Greedy should still be able to mate to the flat flanged downpipes(noted wiht F3).

need price for V2 catted 1 piece downpipe shipped to 23236. And also some advice on whether the divorced or the bellmouth would be a better buy (your thoughts on pros / cons of each, maybe?). This is daily driver with 5 - 10 track days a year, not really autocrossing. Thanks!

will the MadDad™ Essentials Catless Bellmouth (F3 match up to the stock exhaust on an 06? and is it worth it to get a DP w/ the stock exhaust or should i look into the catback first?
