timSTi - The Essntial Bellmouth ends in a 3" flat flange. While it's physically possible to mate up the factory catback - your asking for a leak, because the donut gasket type flange of the factory catback isn't really meant for a 3" crush gasket used by the 3" downpipes that don't taper down to 2.5". You could always add a MadDad Halfback pipe. Which is a 3" intermediate pipe that then goes to 2.5" where it meets the factory axleback. Adds a little more to the cost but I haven't posted those combo deals yet. You could get an Essentials Bellmouth and a Halfback pipe for $389.95 right now - Basically a catless Stealthback.

GoodTimes - that's the 2nd time this month a MadDad exhaust piece has been described as "sex". Must be the purr of the Whisper catback getting you guys excited.....hahhahahah

hmm ok.. how do you think that would work out with the stock catback in there? i have no mods yet other than defi gauges.. im trying to see if its sensible or not to start with a downpipe and then get the catback or if the benefits of a downpipe and catback outweigh a downpipe and stock catback

also the intermediate pipe you're talking about is the pipe that goes pretty much from the muffler to the downpipe right? so when i would get a catback in the future id only really need the axelback part? correct me if im wrong.. thanks!

The general agreement seems to be that you will only be leaving about 5-10hp or so on the table with the stock catback. The biggest gains come from the downpipe. So if you want to stick with the stock 2.5" catback, just get MadDad's two-piece DP w/2.5" taper.

well i intend on getting a catback in the future.. but just for now i want to go with the downpipe cause i think it'll be better initial gains than a catback.. im not concerned with changing the sound of the exhaust all that much, tho i know the downpipe will make some difference..

I'm interested in the stromung/maddad combo, but I'm having trouble finding good pictures and information on the stromung piece. Is there a flange that seperates the waste gate gasses from the regular exhaust gasses like on the maddad V2 downpipe? Also, does the divorce waste gate on the stromung piece allow the waste gate flapper to fully open? I've *heard* that some divorced waste gate downpipes don't allow the waist gate flapper to open all the way.

Stromung use to use a separator flange but about 5-6 months ago stopped doing it claiming they didn't see a difference in performance. Not sure what or how they tested it. I have a pic somewhere I need to dig up otherwise I'll snap a photo over the weekend. I also have a dyno chart from a customer with the stromung and secondary hi-flow cat on an STi running 399lbs of torque. I forget the turbo he had off hand...also had a Whisper caback which is why he comes to mind. I'll dig that one up as well and post back once I find it. It is a nice setup we've sold a number of times over.

Rich's products ROCK! I highly recommend his DP's. I have had a few different brands and the MadDad is by far the best!

The $449 catted bellmouth won't be available till end of May as a general heads up. It will only be offered full 3" no taper. I've been speaking with our fabricator about creating an adapter that would allow fitment of intermediate pipes designed to mate with the donut gasket. I don't have a release date just yet, but I would expect it by the time the new Bellmouth is out. For folks buying a MadDad 3" downpipe the cost of the adapter would be marginal though I don't have a price just yet.

sweetness, because i like the way yours is designed. if a adapter could be made that would be sweet, id rather buy that then have somebody hack up my exhaust to make it fit. ive heard nothing bad about your stuff and want to see for myself come out with a adapter!

If anyone is interested we finllay have some ceramic coated Stromung DP's in stock. Mate one with a MadDad secondary hi-flow metal substrate section for a very nice setup. Add both items to the shopping cart and put "$549 combo" in the Customer Notes field. I have 3 available no lines no waiting. Their is typically anwhere from a 2 week to 6 week wait on coated DPs since they are mostly coated to order. This is a first having a few ready to go.
