P&L 2008 WRX/STi downpipe combo - now at TiC!

A while ago Tony took our 2008 STi up to see Jorge at P&L. Part of the reason they did this is because they had a new pipe they wanted to test.

So we went to help them out.

The pipe just happens to be an adapter to allow the TurboXS 4" bellmouth to mate up to the stock catback on the manual tranny 2008 WRX and STi.

Gotta say, we love it, and we love the results with it (about 286AWHP and 360Wtq all that is done is this pipe setup and a tune).

In fact, we love it so much that we decided we have to carry it as well.

So, here it is the TurboXS catless 4" bellmouth and P&L adapter pipe combo.

Honestly, he's heading down in a few weeks for something to be installed and tuned, but I'm not sure if we're thinking the same thing, Secret Squirrel.

Look at how huge those are!!! Just think of the pick up chicks cred you would get when you get to say "Hey baby, check out how thick my pipe is."

I'll put it to you this way - the ONLY power mods running on our 08 at this very moment in time are these pipes and a tune by Jorge at P&L.

HP is something like 296, and torque is something like 360 (ah, and that's peak torque at 3500 too). I believe Tony has dynos posted in our journal.

Would one see faster spool up on a 3" dp? 4" sounds almost too big unless you are going for big power.

Truth is, you would see a better spool with no downpipe, but we can't really do that.

Yeah, you guys have to remember how a turbo spools up.

It's the pressure differential on one side of the turbine, vs the other.

Meaning, that the more pressure you can put on the volute side, vs the less pressure you put in the downpipe side, the faster it spools.

In short, the less restrictive (read: larger) the exhaust, the better.

Do you have a hi flo cat for second section? I might have to order one of these before my header shows up. It would be neat to see this dp compaired to another ( like helix or perrin ) on a dyno.

I don't believe they have a cat version, but Tony can find out as he's going to be up there on Thursday.

I do know for a fact that P&L really likes this downpipe due to their tuning experience and what works best. Given the number of cars that go through there for tuning I imagine they've seen just about every pipe on the market, and yet they still recommend this one.

Tony, Jorge and I were just talking about this the other day.

Tony and I can't think of any reason why it would not fit, but from what we can tell it won't do much on stock injectors, and stock IC. Sure you'll get a touch more top end, but low to mid-range you won't see much without those supporting mods.
