that pdf from colder will show you just why this is a bad idea. see page 5, specifically.

So, if I have a Defi BF imperial Oil Temp 1/8 NPT all I need is this:
http://www.egauges.com/vdo_send.asp?...Adapters&Cart= part #R7965?
I won't need the Subaru oil galley plug?
I already have the Galley plug. I was also thinking of tapping it. Any comments on that?

i've heard of others doing this too, fwiw.

if there's no leak you're good to go.

I'm agree with the link posted that said what I was doing was wrong, so on a mathamatical level its not the right way to do it. I just checked again yesterday, about 1000 miles on the gauges and still no leak, not like it hurt the car, worked just fine.

I know the part number is listed in the NASIOC thread talking about this.
I came across it while I was looking in to doing this but,

I found that getting a sandwich adapter is much easier than pulling parts off to get to those galley plugs.

I couldn't see any reason a quality sandwich adapter and correctly used teflon tape on the sensors is any more likely to leak than an oil filter so I picked up the Greddy sandwich adapter then installed it with my oil pressure and temp sensors during my next oil change.

Yes, it might take more work initially, but then I never have to see or deal with it again(at least unless something happens) I just like stuff out of the way, and a sandwich adapter isn't really my cup o'tea. Plus less running of electrical wire

please do not use teflon tape on oil lines. use dope, not tape, to prevent small particles from being introduced to the system. the same goes for fuel lines.
