Default Is a boost controller needed?

Okay before you start flaming, I have had a few turbo cars and have always believed that when you mod a turbo car you need (or atleast should use) a boost controller.

I have an 06 STI with an FP Green, Meth, Cobb AP, etc and running an AVC-R boost controller. I am thinking about switching to an ECUTEK and I was told that I don't really need a boost controller. Does this sound correct?

Do all of you run boost controllers? Is it necessary?

It takes a lot for me to not tell you to search+read...

The ECU has enough innate boost control (or an AVC-R, if you want to go that route).

Thanks. I did a search but boost or boost+controller gets alot of hits that don't relate to my Q....I guess I should have looked harder.

I currently have the AVC-R but would like to ditch it if possible
