Default AP V2 STGII: "Realtime" or "Reflash" feature

What is the difference? I am using realtime but I don't have a clue why. I just have a TBE. Should I have gone with the reflash? I also chose STG II 91 VIII

Thanks

Reflash = The map loaded on your ECU. This is the base map your car uses whenever its turned on.
Realtime = Anytime you want to use the 'valet' maps or 'econo' maps, you use a realtime map. It goes away after you reset your ECU.

So, REFLASH to whatever map you will always be driving on (Stg2 @ 91 oct) and whenever you want to use a different map to try out, use realtime.

You must have flash a base map when you did the install of the AP? Which map did you choose when you did the AP install?

91 Stage 1 and then when I but on the TBE I switched to 91 stage 2 realtime. The manual this thing comes with is useless. It really pisses me off.

My AP2 will be here in a couple of days. Can you run on realtime from the beginning without reflashing it? Realtime maps work without the AP connected to the car? How many time can you reflash your ecu? I can't remember the exact number.

When you are "marrying" or flashing the A.P. for the first time, you have to choose a base map to send to the ECU. if you have a downpipe or TBE, then you should choose stage 2 and whatever octane gas you are going top be feeding your subie with. If the car doesn't have any mods, then it's stage one and whatever octane you're going to be using. After the intial flash, you may then run Realtime maps.

FYI:Even though it doesn't say to, you need to dis connect the green connectors after you do the initial set up.

Hope that answered you're questions.

thanks man, why can't you just run the realtime map with the factory map?

When you are marrying the accessport to the car, it stores the factory map in the accessport for when you decide to un-marry it, it can put the stock/factory map back into the ECU.

The whole point to getting E.M. is so that you're car will run better/safer and to get the most out of the modifications you put on the car.

With the a.p. you can flash reatime maps as many times as you want.

You have to reflash to a new base map when you first load it onto the car. After that, you can use realtime updates as many times as you wish. The realtime updates only change 9 of the 23 (I think) parameters of the base map. So when you go back, you are changing those 9 parameters back and thus going back to a full blown stage 2.

I dont think there is a limit to how many times you can reflash things, its just a relative matter like any other mod. If its going to go bad, it will.

So if you have the base map flashed, you almost never need to reflash a realtime? Just for a stage1 guy, like myself for the time being, the basemap that is used on start up would be good enough to race around on the streets? Then you could use realtime for valet, theft, etc? Sorry, I'm just having a hard time trying to make sense of when a realtime would be necessary.
