Default considering defi boost vs. eboost2

I want a gauge that will tell me when I am spiking, and is very accurate. I have started other threads, and searched a lot and have come to the conclusion that defi gauges are just tools that give fairly accurate, but still the measurements are rough. What I believe is accurate is basically what the AP or Tari logging says. For my purpose of making sure I am not over boosting, would you recommend the defi gauge, or the eboost2?

seems kind of like you're comparing apples to oranges.

the eboost is going to give you more accurate boost readings and is also a boost controller. as i'm sure you know.

but the eboost costs more than a boost controller and a defi gauge.

you can log and control boost with the AP and an upgraded boost solenoid (perrin or gm typhoon) and use the defi keep track of your boost regularly/ watch for overboost/etc. this is what i do/would do, it's cheaper.

defi is jst an analog gauge. obviously, you understand this. just posting my thoughts.

yeah, I am just trying to find if the defi is accurate enough to warn me if I am passing 18 psi, so I know to take my foot off the gas. The best case scenario would be if dtec or plx-500 could hook up to a navi screen (like z1 or alpine), and thus make a warning sound if I go over a warning, I don't think thats possible.

A better question might be, can the defi to read as accurately as the AP's live readings?

My defi set-up in my evo is very reliable. From what I have seen, the boost readings are very accurate. Also, on the defi link control unit, there is a "peak warning system" or something of that sort (don't know much about this because I haven't had to use it *knocks on wood*).
Hope all this makes sense and helps.

as long as you install the gauge in the way the manual states, then yes it's accurate. The AP can't read over 18.3 psi.

Considered a PSi3 dash monitor? It displays ECU information - how much more accurate could you want? I considered getting one of these before I went with my DEFI setup, but I'm glad I got the DEFIs. I feel they are accurate, they respond extremely fast, and have a lot of nice features like peak/warn and record. I think my boost gauge reads about 1psi too high (I hope it does because my stage 2 ecutek car is reading 22psi sometimes) but I can adjust for that - it's leaps and bounds better than the stock gauge.

thanks a lot guys. I was gonna go with the psi3, but I became so attached to how well the Defis match. I wish there was more info on how people with defis can be installed to give the most accurate readings.

Don't see how I could have installed mine any differently, and I don't know for sure that they're inaccurate, but most stage 2 tunes don't reach my peak boost levels. I love my gauges, don't get me wrong, but I would like to know for sure how close it is. I may be getting a retune here soon since I've done a few things to the car since my last one in January. Anyhow, good luck with whatever you decide to go with.

to keep the gauges most accurate, the hose length that connects the source and the sensor must be kept to a minimum.
