IWSTI Addict since: Apr 2006 Trader Rating: (0) | So, I have been stage 2 for the last 3-4 months. I had a short ram intake on the car with the Stg 2 reflash for a while, but I finally took it off and reverted back to the stock air box. (best move I've made). Anyways, I wanted to resest the ECU now that I am using the stock airbox. Only problem is, it's not reading the ECU. So I tried to change maps, same thing. Whats going on? I've never disconnected the the AP while its downloading EVER. Can this be fixed? Is it my ECU or is it the AP? This ad is not endorsed by this member. Please register or login to hide this ad. |

| Senior STI Driver | If your just trying to reset the ECU I believe you just need to pull the ground off your battery and hold the brakes down for a few seconds (uses up the rest of the electricity thru the taillights). Then just put the ground back on. You will loose your realtime map but your basemap will still be the same. |

IWSTI Addict since: Mar 2006 Trader Rating: (2) | Your AP should recongnize the ECU without joining the green connectors under the steering wheel (only connected when flashing a base map) There's something wrong there. Can you read live boost? What message appears on your AP when you connect it to the car?? The difference between base map and realtime map is explained on the Cobb website, but in a nutshell - base map is a more "permanent" map flashed to your ECU. That map is NOT erased when you reset your ECU. A realtime map is a temporary map that you can run overtop of the base map. Cobb suggests you run the BASE map associated with your mods, because it runs extra logic that the realtime doesn't. |

IWSTI Addict since: Apr 2006 Trader Rating: (0) | Finally some suggestions. Thanks so much for the help. When I connect the AP to the car is reads everything. It still reads live boost, and when I choose "show current map" it still shows Stg 2 93. |

IWSTI Addict since: Mar 2006 Trader Rating: (2) | I think you need to tell us more. If you can still read live boost, read current map etc, then your AP seems to be working ok.....what happens when you select RESET ECU on the menu?? |

When I select reset, it loads for a second and then "Cannot communicate with ECU" pops up. That happends for EVERY map I try to switch and when I try to reset the ECU. | |

IWSTI Addict since: Mar 2006 Trader Rating: (2) | Are you following the directions in terms of using the ignition in the ON position? From the COBB directions: "COULD NOT COMMUNICATE WITH ECU...." This error message can occur after restting the ECU . Common after the ECU is reset and the key is turned to the OFF position. The AP can only communicate to the ECU when the key is in the ON position. |
