Unless you "NEED" some of the features of the Utec. The stock ECU is a MUCH more powerful tuning tool. You can tune the stock ECU for ~$80.

A friend of mine contacted Nate at TXS about using my old 04' STi UTEC with my new 06'. Nate said "no problem", it's only the 05 to 06' WRX that changed, due to the DBW and a few other things.

Bottom line?
It will work.

If this is true why does Cobb tell us that the 05 AP won't work on the 06?

maybe the reflash method changed in O6 or perhaps the marrying process for the AP does not work with the O6. Just a couple of possibilities that come to mind
