I think they will do the trade in program like when the AccessECU reflashes/chips got upgraded to the AP they did some sort of trade in program.

they have been working on this and everyone stated what it's going to do...

especially the universal thing..so it's not model specific, you just need different firmware probably that they'll have for download

looks really nice and a little smaller...probably a nice screen on it for navigation

looks awesome to me.

This makes crystal_imprezav very unhappy:

"As for the new StreetTUNER, it won't be released until AFTER the new AccessPORT becomes available. We WILL offer an upgrade path for existing StreetTUNER users for the new version of the software. "

Looks like another two years before thats coming out.

I doubt it. what would THEY do with an outdated piece?? Re-use the serial cord??!! lol. If you can't sell, they sure aren't. I think we are SOL with the old AP.

According to Trey that wil be a negative. Its suppose to have all the same 'features' as the old accessport but with new hardware. I suppose once it is released they will be upgrading the firmware on the old accessports to allow some of the stuff the new ones have. I'm guessing the new ones are going to cost an arm and leg considering its $645 for the current designs that look like they were made in the 80s.

I agree. But, IF they are going to cost 'an arm and a leg' then the "old" AP's will hold up their resale value. I have a feeling that the "new" AP's WILL be around the same cost (645$), and the "old" will be obsolete except to updates for "old" customers. .02$

The old APs will not be obsolete because they still will flash the same maps as the new ones. People will not be forced to upgrade and Cobb will continue to support it. The new AP will not give your car any more power than the old ones.

What I understand, is the new AP offers new hardware and a few extra features that will make it easier for Cobb manage (i.e. different model years use same hardware) and hopefully attract an even wider market by appealing to those who don't have an AP already.

People like me who are on the fence and not yet ready to buy one but like the smaller form, the USB connection (I don't have any computers with a serial port), the extra little features, and the fact that if I want to sell it down the road, I'm not limited to selling it to someone with the same model year as my car.
