So I've heard mixed responses in regard to EcuTek's issue with locking the ECU after using their reflash. BUT after bringing my car to my tuner, my AP still refuses to marry my Ecutek'd ECU. So is there any development with this problem.

My tuner talked to both Cobb and Ecutek concerning my situation. Cobb states that it might still be the Ecutek lock and EcuTek states they have revised that issue with thier software already. Is anyone else's ECU locked out because of their EcuTek. I want to hear some responses before I give them a call.

I want to ideally go with the AP but I'm literally stuck with the Ecutek at this point. Any suggestions with what I should do?

OH ****!! SO are you telling me, that if I had an ecutek tune, my car wont marry to an accessport. I got my car reflashed back to stock and am now doing an AP. I have yet to marry it, but should I be worried that it wont work. Also my car is an 05 STi. Thanks.

That's the thing, I'm asking if anyone else is experiencing the same issues as I am.

Just wondering whether EcuTek resolved this issue yet or am I an isolated case. If its an isolated case there might be more to the situation.

bumping this back up.

i've been thinking about going back to cobb for tuning for the fact that i love them and had to give it up just to get my car to run (swapped ecu's with parts).

so am i stuck in a nutshell with this ecutek unless i buy a new ecu or send my ecu straight to cobb for them to get on (which i do not want to do cause i have **** wired into it.

i would really love to get the cobb ap 2 and then a protune with my new stuff.
just want that map switching capability.

This is not an isolated issue with the Ecutek ECU lock down. I am switching to AP version 2 from Ecutek and the tuner was unable to marry AP, even when he reflashed the ECU back to stock (of course I lost my Ecutek license in the interim and my ECU will not accept AP). So I am shipping my ECU to Cobb and they are going to develop a fix for the problem to help benefit all of the people who will be running into this problem. It makes good business sense for them, because if they solve this problem then more people might be interested in switching to their product. In any case, I will let you guys know how things are proceeding. It certainly is better than buying a new ECU.

This is also an issue I have to be weary of as I plan on doing a Stage 2 tune at PDXTuning sort of soon. Anyone have any updates on this?

As an update, Cobb sent my ECU back unlocked and ready to marry with the Acessport V2. My car got protuned with no problems. Apparently Cobb found a solution that will solve the Ecutek ECU lockdown problem for anyone with this issue. All is well that ends well.

that's sweet, so i guess if i ever went with cobb ap i would have to take out my ecu and send it to them?
i'd love to do that.

I mean if you really wanted to wipe out the license it would be easy to just flash a stock image back into your ecu via a tactrix cable. That would be pointless though IMO because you would have just lost a $700 license. The best way to go in this case is to just swap ecu with another sti owner for some $$ and get an ecutek dealer to swap the licenses on the ecu's.

actually LOL that's what i did.
i swapped my cobb stage 2 ecu with ap to someone who had ecutek already on their ecu, so i have theirs and they took mine and made it stock form and sold the car.

i'm just saying i'd rather really have ap over this ecutek, the purpose of the swap was that it was easiest at the time for him and for me. (since he wanted to sell his car in stock form and i took all his parts).
