Flashed to stage 1 last night. Couple of quick impressions:

-Drove 45 min to work this morning and saw a peak average MPG at ~23.
-The initial startup after the flash was rough. I remember reading about this on the forums and I wish that Cobb had mentioned it in the installation procedure. I'm sure other people worry about this.
-Power delivery is much different. Flatter and without any sudden surges than I was used to before. I noticed the increase in performance more at the top end of things.
-AP flashed easily and without any problems.
-I updated the firmware this morning on a win XP box as I had some troubles doing it on a mac with a winxp virtual machine.
-There are rumors about a logging functionality being added to the AP as well as peak hold and multi parameter display...just rumors and wishful thinking though. (My technical take on these is that they are all possible. The storage space for logs is there in the EEPROM they use to store maps. You don't need 5+ base maps stored on your AP at once. If the subaru select protocol is fast enough to do logging to a laptop then it is fast enough to display 2 parameters on the AP. Peak hold is probably a couple of lines of code and a week or so of testing and should not be difficult at all.)

Got my AP yesterday and flashed to Stage 1. I immediately felt the difference. It's like i'm driving a whole new beast now! No more lag and it pulls strong. Definately a lot smoother than stock. I like, very nice . Next stop Stage 2.

HI every one. Just installed my AP stage 1 about time.......

Any ways.... I did everything it says on Cobbs website of upgrading all the firmware of the AP and the AP mangaer up dates and then I loaded all the maps from Cobbs map page to the AP mangager. Then after loading the maps onto the AP, I then installed the stage 1 map 93 (cause thats the OCT I use) but with the Launch Control.

My question is....what are the things that I look for after the map is installed on the car?
Is there specific things I need to monitor to know if all is working well?
How do you use Launch Control and Flat foot shifting? (there video on the website is not working to show you how to use it)
Whats the best settings for the LC and the Flat footed shifting?
Any other recommendations would be greatly appreciated....

After leaving the Stage 1 WRX club a month ago when I traded it in for the '08 STI, I have no rejoined as an STI member. I'm still breaking the car in, but it does feel different. About 3k, there is definitely more power, but there is also less at 2k rpm, which I can now clearly see on Cobb's dyno chart.

Just did Stage 1 here....i knew the startup was going to be rough since i had reset my ecu before. I had to dig up my oldest laptop to get a serial port to load maps...but aside from that its what everyone has said: more linear power

Two weeks has gone by and I noticed alot more power.

But i also noticed a louder ticking from the engine. How can I tell if an STi's engine is detonating? Is there a way to tell threw the AP?

went to stage one this weekend, I as a little nervous with the V1 because of all the horror stories but everything went smoothly. My sti feels great very happy. Boost seems to come on sooner and stronger. Took me two years to finally get to stage one, a downpipe is in the future but who knows when

Okay, what happened? I have been driving around for several weeks with the Cobb AP Stage 1 and it has been great.... the problem is I have noticed my car is starting to do the same things it was doing prior to the ECU flash. Noteably the 1st gear hesitation and the car seems to lag during acceleration... any thoughts? I have searched the web site for similar problems and could not find any. Has anyone else experienced this type of "power fading" problem? Help!

-What mileage are you at and whats the year of your baby?
-Whats your mods that pertains to the engine?
-Is all the maintenance done to the vehicle for the current mileage?
-What is your states weather conditions? If it's Florida like me then expect the power to taper off.
-Whats your driving style?

I would call/ email Cobb about your concerns.

Thanks for the advice. The only maintenance I have done since my AP install was a coolant change.

Is 17psi in 4th gear normal for Stage 1? Only in 4th can I hit 17.0 at WOT.

The car is a whole lot easier to get around in. For some reason at WOT in 6th going 80mph I get this rattle snake type sound
