Knowing all of that: Cobb's acronym LWG stands for low wastegate duty cycle, which means that the map sends a shorter duration pulse from the ECU to the wastegate actuator. That in turn allows the wastegate to bleed off more exhaust gas, which reduces maximum boost.
Excellent!

This isn't completely correct. You are merging two components and their terminology. The wastegate actuator on our cars could be called a valve type device like you say, but it is controlled by boost pressure. When the boost pressure overcomes the wastegate spring, it pushes an "arm" attached to the wastegate door, opening it. The boost control solenoid is Tee'd off of the hose from the compressor outlet to the wastegate actuator. This solenoid is what has the duty cycle (as it is electronically controlled from the ECU), and bleeds off enough boost to keep the actuator from opening the door until target boost is reached...it then moderates the pressure to retain that boost (often causing the wastegate door to open/close rapidly...called wastegate flutter). Cobb calls their maps HWG and LWG in reference to the duty cycle (just as you say), but this is because of what the fields are called in the maps, not because the wastegate actually has a duty cycle. All the ECU controlls is the boost control soledoid....

Just wanted to give all the details I could...

Installed Stg1 93 Octane map last night. I agree, not too much of a noticeable difference. I did confirm that my Autometer Electronic Boost gauge was dead on with the live boost function! I am hitting 17.3 avg peak boost on 4,5,6 gears. High or not, that is what I was hitting stock. Scary? I think so......

Stock you should be hitting 14.5 psi, stage 1 should be 16.5 +/- .5 psi.

Stock, I was blowing by the 14.5psi range. With Stage 1, I am above the higher tolerance of 17.0 psi. I think I am a canidate for porting the turbo before moving on to Stage 2. I have a TBE in the garage begging to go on.

Try other maps like beesti did, may solve the problem.

Sounds like you got some boost creep.

ok. i got a ECU Tari Reading of 17.269 PSI (Manifold Absolute Pressure *minus* Atmospheric Pressure). This is what i get on the Stage 1 California Map.

QUESTION:

is 17.3 PSI too high for stage 1 occuring in 5th and 6th gear only?

i keep seeing ppl post that it should be 16.5 +- .5 PSI. but is this too dangerous?

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but 17 psi should be max boost for stage 1?

Beesti , r u running intake? Cobb's website says they got some maps for intakes, I emailed them but haven't heard anything.

Perhaps you can try the LWG or California Stage 1 map and see if it helps.
