Woohoo - I installed the Cobb Stage II with AP v.93. Very pleased - turbo seems to kick in around 3,200 rpm now instead of the original ~4,000 rpm.

Question 1) Is it normal to have some backfire/afterfire between 1st and 2nd gear at high rpms?

Question 2) I cut the existing turbo heatshield and replaced. Do I need to put on all the heatshields from the OEM downpipe and mid-pipe as well? I just left them off with only the pipes.

I did the install myself and followed all the torque specs. I was very careful with it too. It has not been pro-tuned or anything, just the Cobb Stage 2 v93 map.

Either way, this upgrade is top-notch. Well worth the bucks.

I would like to know about the backfiring too. I'm getting a bit of it at WOT 1st/2nd. My car is protuned with just a Cobb Catless DP. My car also stinks, but I'm assuming thats just the brand new exhaust component burning a bit.

Been stage 2 for about 4k miles now and I LOVE IT SO MUCH. It's the best thing money can buy for the car. No problems so far. Knock on Wood.

Gas: CA 91 (Chevron)

The car was making LESS power with the stage 2 shelf map than it did with the Stage 1 shelf map and intake:

Stage 2 tuned vs. not tuned....look at the difference...

Stage 1 vs. stage 2 un-tuned...the shock of the day...

FINAL:

I wasn't too concerned with the final power figures, but rather throttle response and driveability.

k&n typhoon
Fmic (ssac)
helix DP/ greddy sp2 catback
Ported vf39
Apexi avcr boost controller
i think it'll be ok. i got my avcr set for 1.1 bar right now, so it's less than what the stg2 is set for (right?) prob run rich...thanks! this ap is completly new to me,never looked at them before. i'm ready to set my utec on fire though and i sure as hell won't miss that stumble

A protune might fix that, but at least get the car dynoed and see what it's doing.
