NO NO NO NO NO NO NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

sorry I wasn't clear. I noticed after i posted, that you had an 07.
First, I would identify exactly your boost pressure, then i would identify target boost pressure.

Then i would get my ass on the phone and talk to jeremy or trey and have them help you, if you are overboosting. see if they can help you with your wgdc targets in your map.

Well I just did it. I bought the access port for my STI which already has the TBE on it. haha a few beers and a credit card can be dangerous, but I just got a tax refund. I am hoping it is what everybody claims it to be.

lets say after you flash stage 2 you go to install an intake, you have to disconnect the battery.... should i unmarry the accesport first, then reload it? or do i just have to reflash the map again?

I had no issues that I could notice. No Boost Creep or Boost spiking above normal. I just wanted to take precautions and get EM before something did happen.

I have Borla XR-1 3" Cat back, 3" Flange adapter, and helix catted downpipe.

I think the cat is the key to preventing boost creep and spikes. Dang!

So when I scroll through the potential maps on my AP. There is no LWG or HWG maps. There are some for Arizona, Nevada and Californ-i-a.

It says that the target boost pressure for the stage 2, 93 octane is 19psi. The AP boost guage only goes up to 18.4 psi, and thats where I boost up to (maybe beyond).

I drove around with my wife watching the AP. Some things we noticed...

Back fires, crackles and popps. Yes I know, just like rice crispies.

It does it at low RPMS and at High RPMS. I noted that it shows
IgnAdv would go as high as 45(I dont know what the increment is) and then I would let off the gas and it would go back down to 9.
DynAdv would go from 0 (zero) up to 4 (I dont know the increment either).
I dont think I was really reaching a 18.4psi at 3300rpms in 1st or 2nd gear. And thats when all of this would begin.

So when I get my tuner this Friday which Stage 2 map should I use? I'm assuming the tuner comes with some sort of manual to guide in the process. (maybe not?)

Easiest way is to decide what gas you'll be using 99% of the time - 91 or 93+? Then choose the default map for that octane - Stage 2 93 v1.11 (or something similar.) If you notice that you are overboosting, use the Stage 2 93 LWG with uses a lower wastegate duty cycle to attempt keep that in check. If you aren't reaching target boost, try using Stage 2 93 HWG which uses a higher duty cycle in hopes of achieving target boost.

Start with the default map first. Don't worry about realtime maps - you don't have to flash one, just the base map.

^^ Digi,

When are you switching to Stage 2? Did you persuade the wife yet for the benefits of stage 2 ?

My Crucial Racing downpipe is on order and is shipping tomorrow. I'll be picking up the MadDad catted midpipe + whisper back later in the spring. I know I'll be down on power a bit with the stock OEM midpipe + catback, but that will only be for a while. Once I get the MadDad stuff, I'll be getting a Protune and in stage 2 "heaven".

As for the wife, well, this year has been cool because I'm doing a lot of driving to client sites (which I get paid for mileage wise) and getting a bonus from work. You don't realize how hard it is to drive slow when you're trying to maximize fuel cost to maximize trip profit. lol.

Basically I've bought about $2000-$2300 (cdn) in suspension, brakes, power mods, and tires, and first track day, all without touching our "regular" funds. Therefore, she has nothing to say. That and I'm also giving her my tax return to put towards our "tropical vacation" fund. That helped too. She's been very understanding so far.

It's amazing how fast you get over minor upgrades like AP stage 1. I know my car is faster, but it's starting to feel slow again. Essentially, I *think* I'll be happy if I can get my car into the 106-108mph range. It should be possible since I run 94 octane and sit at 200-500ft asl. I might pickup a bigger TMIC too.

That will probably be it for my modding this year - I want to work on my driving so the remainder of my budget will be going to track days.

Next year though...I might do an c/f driveshaft, lightweight bumper beam, seats. If I feel spunky, a couple years from now I'll do a built-engine, Hydra, and bigger turbo.

^^ Nice! Just be careful with possible boost spike/creep issues after you change that downpipe. I am sure you know that even with the stage 2 OTS maps (no protune) the car might misbehave a little. Keep your eyes on those expensive Defis the first days; and on the road of course.

HE will be catted, and that seems to be the thing to prevent the boost creep.

Not always... I was getting some creep with my catted APS. It would be more severe if I didn't have a cat.

^^ same here. I still creep as well and I am Full APS 3" catted. It seems to creep only in 6th gear in warm weather, but 3,4,5,6 gear under 40 degrees.

Porting would be the only fix. Oh FYI, and those OTS maps, FYI before Jorge started tuning my car he did a pull with just the Stage 2 OTS map. AFR was 10 to 1 from 5500rpm and up, and that was as rich as his meter could read. Scary huh? only ran the OTS for a week thank god.
