Default IMPORTANT INFORMATION for ALL 06 STI's w/ AP

Short version.

It was discovered that the 2006 WRX STI Cobb AP had a coding error that limited the functionality of realtime maps. Cobb, with the assistance of the community was able to quickly diagnose and resolve this problem. If you are having problems after installing your AP you should download the latest maps, replace the old ones, and you should be good to go.

Long version,

I don't have a boost gauge installed so this was the first time I was able to see my boost readings. I'm running the Stage 1 on 93oct as my basemap. I *want* to say that I feel that I've lost power but that could be my mind playing games on me. ~5psi should be a good amount of power. Could it be the AP and the MAP? I don't live in cali so I'm not sure whether those cal wastegate maps would help. I saw another thread by SubyFreak05 @ Only getting 10.5 PSI !!! Help

but after a few rounds with a stupid dealer he never reposted regarding wtf happened or was going on. *Though he didnt have an AP yet* I suspect either the AP has done this for some reason or I'm having the same problem as SubyFreak05. Any suggestions would be helpful (prior to going to the dealer of course)

Are you getting 10 psi at wide open throttle? At partial throttle it tapers around 10psi...

I dont recall 3rd off the top of my head, but if I recall correctly my 02 wrx hit 14lbs in all gears at WOT though that could be a completely different problem.

Try checking boost in 5th and 6th gears WOT. If you're hitting your target then you're fine, don't use 1st and 2nd gear as a reference.

Try the LWG and HWG versions of the S1 93 maps and see if you notice a difference, I'm sure you will.

4th gear is probably the best to test boost in. Also it is really low like 3200 rpm where it is maxed. 1-2-3 are not good to test in at all. The numbers jump by to quickly.

I tried it with a the Stage 1 HWG 93 oct map and the results, though better still arent right. I hit about 11.2 PSI in 3rd/4th with that map. Note it was a realtime map. Do I have to use it as a basemap for a valid test? I didnt try the LWG because I figured more boost was what I wanted. Does anyone reccomend still trying the LWG map?

I keep forgetting but tomorrow I'll run it on the stock mode realtime map and see what happens.

Be careful because you might get boost creep with the HWG map and very cold weather, though.

swift,

cant say that I did. I was re-reading the manual and I didn't notice anything to that effect. About how long do you estimate that process to take?

So I go to pick up a friend before work and i turn off the car go in grab him and get back in the car.. ***** wont start.. I'm like wtf is going on.. come to find out I'm trowing a P0513 which is "wrong key.. Immobilizer" randomly? I tried for like 20 minutes.. now thankfuly I had another set of keys in the car and it started right up.. I saw a couple other threads with this type of problem and a Cobb AP but no data regarding a resolution.

Interesting. I installed a AP on my 06 STI this weekend. At first I loaded the Stage 1 Cal basemap. When you first do this, it says it also load the realtime map as well, so after the initail flash, I went for a spin. All was great - I immediately saw 17psi +, so I decided I wanted it a little bit lower and downloaded the Stage 1 Cal LWG map. I loaded that on and suddenly I could only get 10 psi. I then flashed the regular Stage 1 Cal and still, only 10 psi. I was stuck like this for several hundred miles.

So after more thinking, it seemed to me that flashing the realtime maps had caused some kind of problem. I disconnected the ECU for an hour knowing the the car would revert to the original base map and bingo, car went right back to 17psi.

I think we should contact Cobb about this - seems like there is a definite problem with the 06's.
