There was one person who was getting flaky readings because of tapping in somewhere else. I don't know where he tapped in. If you are getting smooth gauge action and the readings seem to agree with your 'butt dyno' -- in other words, you feel the boost at the same time the gauge is telling you the boost is there -- I'd say not to worry about it too much.
