The VERY best way to get the gauges to dance right is to find the power source of the gauge cluster and do it from there... I haven't had a day that I felt lazy enough to whip out the multi-tester and find that wire. If I do, Ill make sure to add that in there too, that would make the install perfect.
Will I get a free upgrade?

That's really not necessary. The main cluster fires up when the key goes to the "on" position. Any wire at all that gets 12V with the key at that switch position and does NOT get 12V with the key in the "accessory" position will do just fine. If I could have found one in the area behind the radio I would have used it, but there were none that fit the bill.

Cheers!

I plan on using a fuse tap for the gauge illumination on the fuse panel. Only comes on when in the IGN position and doesn't lose power when you turn the key.

Does any one have a picture of which line to splice with the Defi-supplied T-connector? I read in Nix's how-to guide that you can't use the BPV vacuum line due to the supplied T-connector being too small. Also, what gauge of wire do you need to extend the control unit's wires? (I really should just open the bloody box sitting beside me! hehe)

Thanks.

hahaha

look at the how to I made... its got a picture of a line that works for the install.. its what I had to use for Nix's install.

As far as extending the wire... 16 gauge should be fine.

Just the boost gauge install? Well, it all depends on how much of a hurry you are, how savvy you are with installs, and how complicated is the location you want to install it to. if its just the column... I dono.. I suppose I could bust one out in about 1 hour.

I took a while to do Nixlimited's because 1. I took my sweet time 2. I spent forever TRYING to remove his oil filter 3. Its someone else's car.. so I alwways take it nice and slow.

Watch out for a edited version of the write up soon with the IGN wire instead of the ACC wire... it should be a fairly easy change especially in my car since I wired my car from the fuse box area.

That was the first thing I did but I couldn't really tell where the T connector was in the pic. I'll look again, thanks.

OK the reason I didn't notice the T-connector picture is because you can't enlarge it in your how-to:

This picture:

...can't be enlarged by clicking on it in the guide.

yeah, it is... here's a big picture of it.. Use a zip tie on it because its doesn't have a nipple on the intake manifold.

when i installed my defi boost gauge, i also ran into the t connector issue. i was able to find a spot to tap in (different from the spot in the pic).

does anyone know if not following the instructions in the manual regarding where to tap in matters? the instructions say to tap it off the by-pass valve, but apparently not everyone does this (at least i didn't, and neither did this instalation). my gauge reads pretty accurate, and i haven't read any complaints from the owner of the car in the pic.

what do u guys think? i hope i'm not hikacking the thread...seems like the thread is headed in this direction.
