IWSTI Addict since: Mar 2006 | In early October people were asking for a tool to compare ROMs at the table level, showing all differences in a nice GUI: Rom compare programs? Well, this was something I wanted. From the get go I promised myself that any software tools needed to tune my car, I would write myself. (not including flashing tools, I don't have that much time or capitol to attempt at this point). So in an effort to copy ALL tables to a SD ROM for my up coming FP Green install, I needed to code the following. Yay, New!, SimpleTune.org ROM compare feature! First off a snapshot: Definitions: - Tuning Group. A collection of maps that together make a Tuning Group. Note, SimpleTune is meant to tune all sorts of things. For example, I have early code to support the UTEC, which also has collection of maps, but no notion of ROMs. In short: - Open up ROMs of interest. - Go to tools and select compare. In fact, open up as many compare windows as you please if you wish to compare many roms at once. NOTE, ROM compares are expensive as lots of data is being compared and filtered, be patient. - Once a comparison has been made, double click the table names to open the editing tables in the GUI. - Check off the select boxes for tables you wish to copy to the base Tuning Group (ROM). Changes will be reflected in the GUI. - Hit commit button - Save ROM when you're done! Caveats: - Table undo and redo just doesn't work. I'll fix it later. In any case I find I prefer to make changes to Target Boost A, and use my Target Boost B as the fall back. Yes, lame, but I swear it worked last release. Sigh.... - Ohh, and this ain't Open Source. Its my source. Its free. I do well for myself coding boring **** for the gubment.Warning!: - I am one man (29 years old, so maybe a man child) who does this in his spare time for fun. No, I am not obese and have had sex. Though I am awesome in so many ways, I am not awesome enough to fix your ECU if my program kills it. You're SOL if something bad happens to your car after using SimpleTune. That said, if you want to use it go to: SimpleTune - Home to download. Last edited by Tgui; 12-06-2008 at 11:17 PM.. |

IWSTI Addict since: Oct 2003 | That looks great man. I was thinking of doing this myself (though in C#) but I've been way too busy with work (ironically writing software). Thanks for putting this together. I'll have to give it a try. |

IWSTI Addict since: Apr 2007 | I tried this on the last ROM revision I flashed... Most of the time, when I double-click on a table name in the 'compare and copy' dialog box, nothing happens. On a couple of occasions it did open the tables I was interested in. I looked for a way to make it work consistently or not work consistently, but couldn't find one. I realize bug reports are more use when there's good repro steps, but I wasn't able to figure it out. It seems pretty random. |

If you ever want to email me a zip with 2 ROMs that cause this issue, plus whatever you possibly did to make things break I'd appreciate it! There is also a SimpleTune.log that gets created (and rewritten) after every SimpleTune session, sending me that as well could help. Also, were you using two compare sessions as well? eric d0t c d0t morgan att gmail d0t c0m Stupid spammers I'll try to break it tonight as well. | |
