Default Right engine Management for me?

Now I don't wanna do any heavy mods on my car now because I purchased an extended warranty for another 5 years on my 05. When that ends tho I will begin alot of heavy modding. What is good for now and would be the most eligible for heavy modding in the future? I'm talking in the future built motor and new turbo reaching mid 20s psi range.

As for now if you are willing to learn and tune your car open source is great. Then again it takes time to learn how to work the tables on the maps. You could also go Accesport but then again you would need to spend the 700 on the blasted ting and like 4-500 on a tuner. IF you want to go big later on start saving up for a hydra EMS.

I went and got a tuner to make me a base tune for my setup and then I went to edit it and make changes here and there etc. And Im happy with the results.

Allright thank you for your insight sir, lots of useful information. Is the APv2 limited a certain amount of performance or can it be used to tune like a gt35r sti? Anyone else have input?

If you got n extended warranty and want to keep it, I would suggest that you actually leave it stock. Subaru CAN tell that the ECU has been reflashed, so even if you went with AP with the intent on going back to stock, the checksum on the ECU can still be checked at the dealership, and warranty repair denied.

Wow I thought the whole reason of the AP was that it was undetectable when reflashing with the stock map. Thats pretty ****ty, my extended warranty was purchased through Nissan. Do you think since I did that, they would look past my mods cause they're technically not charging Subaru for my warranty work?

Its not a thing about power limits, its about practical use. The ap is good for some mods and some situations but for a fully built engine I would prefer a full blown Engine management solution and not just a reflash solution, becuase when it comes down to it, the AP is just a re flashing tool and a costly one at that. If you want the abilities to change maps well the ap is ok and so is the utec etc. But it wont come even close to a Hydra, Motec, Hks em and the soon to be out Aem unit. If money is not an issue I would go with with a Hydra with a hydra mist and the wideband.

first,don't waste your money on an extended warranty under any circumstance but especially when you are planning to modify it. you can still cancel but you will not get your money back. they will deduct it from the back end of the loan when you get there. second, don't lose your oem ecu unless youve got a HUGE mod plan. with all due respect, youre plan here doen't make sense.

Well...I recommend asking your highly speculative question again in 2015 when the answers will be pertinent.

Extended warranties are just absurd ways for the dealer to make even more money. Good luck actually getting something serious fixed with an extended warranty. You should try to get your money back.
