Default What's the bottleneck?

Hi guys,

I've been doing my fair share of research on mod paths for my 07 STI, and there just doesn't seem to be a typical path that nets the best gains. From what I see, stage 2 and a protune nets a little above 300 whp, but from there... everything goes up in the air.

Fuel pump and injectors
Intercooler
water injection
boost controller
intake
uppipe
ETC>>>

So I'm wondering, at the point that I'm sitting at with Accessport V2, and a full TBE, what should I be looking at to get a solid tune and some great track times?

Realistically, I don't want water injection, but I'm not entirely sure on whether an intake will net me any gains (installed before a tune). Uppipe doesn't seem to be worth it for the difficulty of the install (for a stock turbo setup). As well, I don't know what the capapbilities of the stock fuel system is (I've heard a warlboro is needed, but wouldn't injectors net better results as well)?

Any info/opinions/links would be really helpful!

For clarifications, I would like to get a very high 11, or atleast a very low 12 out of the car without sacrificing reliability.

If you are a tuner in the northeast, feel free to pm me, as I'm trying to search for somebody that can install most of this stuff and give me a good tune.

Real simple answer. The bottle neck is the stock turbo.

I don't really want to go to a big turbo setup right now... sounds a little stupid, but I'd rather get everything I need to do it, then make my decision later.

Realistically, my goals right now don't need a bigger turbo. the VF43 should be find for getting low 300whp and the goals i've set out.

Big turbo is a slippery slope, because that means that I'd be running high 10s to low 11s, which means roll cage/beafed up tranny/ breaking drivetrain bits... just things I don't want to deal with. I don't imagine that launching a 450awhp subaru sti can be reliable.

That will get into the 11's. Nothing short on the stock turbo (besides meth).

Why not just get a meth kit? That will get you into the 11's.

Yeah, especially if you're looking at this from a price standpoint, a bigger turbo and/or meth is the way to go.
